Voting in the the 2007 WGA Board of Directors election has begun! Click here to go to the election page and cast your votes for your favorite candidates.
Some general notes about this phase of the Board of Directors election process:
- Since there are 6 open Board positions, members may vote for up to 6 of the candidates.
- If you try to vote for more than 6 candidates, all your votes will be thrown out and you’ll be given a chance to vote again.
- Once you vote, you cannot vote again. Therefore, if you vote for fewer than 6 candidates, you can’t come back and vote for more. Also, you can’t change your votes (so get them right the first time!).
- Voting will end at exactly 11:59:59pm on Sunday, February 11, 2007.
- The 6 candidates with the highest vote totals at the end of voting will fill the open Board positions. Note that the candidate with the 6th highest vote total will fill the Board position vacated by William Pulvermacher (Flushingrouse), and therefore will only serve a 1 year term instead of the normal 2 year term. In the event of a tie, a run off election will be held immediately after the conclusion of voting.
If you have any general questions about this phase of the election process, feel free to post them in the Candidates Corner 2007 forum. If you experience technical problems with the voting system or trouble with your WGA member account, you can contact me directly, jeremy
wi geocaching com. Also, just a friendly reminder that we take the Board elections seriously and will be watching for fraudulent votes. Here is just a quick list of the things that we do to prevent election/voting fraud…
- Only WGA members (not WGA friends) can vote in the election, and they can only vote once (enforced by the voting system).
- Only 3 people can view and modify the votes cast. This year it is Ruth Holliday (bnb), Ray Handley (Trudy & the beast), and myself. All of us are “impartial observers” because we won’t be on the Board next year.
- While we still allow people to sign up as WGA members during the election, any votes cast by these new members are carefully scrutinized. In the past, we’ve actually contacted several new members by email to verify their votes.
- Before the final results are released, all the votes will be audited.

The voting phase of the 2007 Board of Directors election is now halfway complete. We’ve already had more members vote this year than in last year’s election. But there are many “regulars” here (including some current Board members!) who have not yet cast their votes.
Don’t forget to vote by the end of the day Sunday, February 11th.
02/05/2007 at 12:07 pm #1769362BTW, if you are undecided on a few, Vote for the candidates you can support. There is no mandate to use all six of your votes and there is actually a slight mathmatical advantage for those you do vote for if you don’t vote for others. In any case make your voice be heard. VOTE.
