Not to go off track but the sad part of the cemetery caches in South Carolina .. I found most in Charleston when I first started geocaching.
The markers were so interesting and the history .. sad that others will not be drawn to the same areas to discover what we had.

That Wiki by state is kinda cool. No Wisconsin on the list though…
Thanks for digging this one up CodeJunkie.

It would be good to know how the restrictions in SC evolved into what they are, as it would be terrible to have it happen in WI as well. However, that can of worms might be best opened under cover of darkness. Seems like there is a powerful lesson to be learned there. Was it from something caused, something not prevented, both, neither?

Keep Wisconsin off the list…………….
A few trips back, we were in SC and logged a virtual cache located in Magnolia Cemetery just outside of Charleston.
Sorry I don’t know how to do that link thing……

Maybe virtuals are exempt? It is still an active cache and it was one of the NEATEST cemeteries we have even been to!

Well there are rules and regulations related to DNR and certain municipalities and such that should have a page on that list… not that we want them but they exist. Must be up to a reviewer to write the wiki 😉
I glanced at a number of the states and the allowed / disallowed is all over the place.
South Carolina says No Cemetery caches, but Indiana says “don’t mind”. South Carolina says No DNR land, but WI says notify the DNR and we’ll deal with any issues.
I think this is certainly interesting including some states that list the actual statutes that apply a class E felony to cemetery caches (thank Tennessee for this one)
