I like the idea of challenge caches, I just wish they had there own icon, or index or something official on GC.com so I could look at them all easily.

Bill, If I’m not mistaken, you actually have a choice of three letterbox cemetery hides over that way. Check out sandlanders’ profile for them.
My problem right now is that there are too many great caches at or near the oicnic and not enough time. I’m glad we’re planning on being there for a 3-day weekend.
AS FAR AS LOOKING AT THE SANDLANDERS PROFILE, THAT’S ONE PLACE I’M STAYING AWAY FROM AFTER JUST SPENDING WAY TOO MUCH TIME ON ONE OF THEIR PUZZLES IN PREPARATION FOR THE WEEKEND. AFTER SEVERAL E-MAILS BACK AND FORTH PAT FINALLY GOT SICK OF ME AND GAVE ME THE COORDINATES.
Actually I’m just kidding, but I’m sure Pat had a good laugh on that one and my ineptness. The Sandlanders have been a great help to us getting ready for the weekend with cache info and some great help on the campsites which is where we will be staying.09/14/2010 at 6:43 pm #1935928I don’t even bother looking at them.

BTW, KSpud became the second finder on our How Hungry challenge this weekend!
Congrats to K-Spud on that, but we’re not the least bit hungry, and we choose not to be. When we dine out with T&B, we’ll pay our own way, thank you.
😉09/14/2010 at 11:55 pm #1935930Still have not done any, county, Delorme, well rounded or what ever else is out there. Don’t even check. LOL! Glad they are there for those who like them. Just doesn’t float or boat nor work into our life style.
TE09/15/2010 at 12:05 am #1935931Kinda a repeat of what others in support have said.
I looked over the new challenges and probably won’t be doing any of them this weekend unless I already qualify. However, once I have completed the two challenges that I have been plotting towards (Delorme and Badger), that might change. (Although by that time I might be feeling a little “hungry” as well :D)
Why do I like challenge caches? I’m more of a journey person than a numbers person. Challenge caches give me something to set my sights on other than how many caches can I find in one day. Otherwise I look at the map blankly and wonder “Where do I want to go?” With so many choices, challenge caches help me make the decision. They also allow me to reminisce about my past caching travels.
The enjoyment I’ve been having with the challenges is why I recently published one (Wisconsin Rustic Roads Challenge.) I enjoy traveling the Rustic Roads of WI and I thought others might as well. It’s not for everyone. But, hopefully it gives people who do like to have a goal in mind something new to work towards.

You can’t go wrong with the WRR Challenge. You get to drive on a rustic road and get a smilie each time. We’ve only found a dozen or so, but have had some very scenic rides and seen a few unexpected features along with them. We always look to see if there are any in the area we will be in.

Definitely! Finding the cache on a WRR is almost secondary.
09/15/2010 at 1:00 am #1935934We’re looking for those WRR caches when we travel now as well. And….I’m reminded that I want to revisit some close to home that we discovered last year courtesy of some placed by wisundevil. I’d commented that they’d be spectacular in a few more days….then life got in the way. Don’t want to miss that color this time around!
09/16/2010 at 12:17 pm #1935935Anyone looking at the logs on some of the challenges will notice that Team Sloughfoot loves a challenge. They give us a reason to travel to areas of the state that we wouldn’t go to otherwise and in the process we usually discover what nice areas they are. We sort them out and do the ones that we find interesting or doable and pass on the rest. Our current personal challenge is to buy a tank of gas a day and we are doing a pretty good job of meeting that challenge 😆
09/16/2010 at 3:15 pm #1935936What you are seeing is a conflict between the people who want to keep a certain radius around their home clear and the people who want some extra motivation to travel around the state/country/world. To be honest, I don’t really see the point of “Find 10 multicaches” type challenges. I wish we could still publish the “list of difficult caches” type challenges, but certain people ruined that for the group.
