I hope they don’t show up on the maps, and I REALLY hope they don’t show up in PQs.
BTW, Cheesehead Dave’s challenge is more like what I was expecting…
I hope they don’t show up at all. Sounda like an entirely different game.

Here’s a twisted theory to double your “found” count.
I could publish a “challenge” for every cache that I own which states, “Find cache XXX”. By doing so, you’ll get a “found” for the cache and another “found” when you complete the challenge.
Well this theory has already caught on.
Virtual Cache – So many Storeys, So Little Time (GC47A4)
Challenge – Don’t Look Down! http://www.geocaching.com/challenges/view.aspx?cx=CX287I guess I should log that one

08/18/2011 at 9:50 pm #1952031Just seen this on FB I thouhght I was AWESOME
James Salisbury Hmmm, my challenge of “Convincing Groundspeak!” (to remove challenges) was archived in less than 3 minutes… Someone is watching and trying to silence the crowds.08/18/2011 at 9:51 pm #1952032@sandman4182 wrote:

I see a lot of abuse in the future on these
Really? I can’t imagine anyone abusing this. 🙄 🙄
If it stays I’m probably done with geocaching because it’s made the whole “geocaching” thing worthless. Where’s that thread about what will kill the game?
Good point Code. I will just stay away from these dumb ____ challenges and keep on caching like I would if these weren’t here. This way we can see who is the TRUE HONEST CACHERS ARE ❗ ❗ ❗ ❗ ❗ ❗ ❗ ❗ ❗ ❗ ❗ ❗ ❗ :back: :back: :back: :back: <
This is team Sandman Picketing the ChallengesSo people who do challenges are not true honest cachers????? Just trying to understand what you are saying.

We’re seeding the Challenges activity with some Worldwide Challenges. If you have an idea, submit it here: http://t.co/JzWQ4P008/18/2011 at 9:53 pm #1952035Not sure why they didn’t do the challenges like BM, show up on your list but not in your find count.
08/18/2011 at 9:54 pm #1952036The problem is that challenges aren’t actually challenges. There is no review, no control from the owner, no enforcement of any kind for any assumed rules, no actual rules. It’s like playing calvinball, with 2 people it could work, but with the entire planet it gets really wonky.
08/18/2011 at 10:02 pm #1952037NOT to open a WHOLE nother can of worms,
But, in MY OPINION A geocache find is signing a log for cache that HAS a GC# Events, EC , BM and such in MY opinion, should not count towards one’s total, But that is how I play the game. Other’s may play different. That’s their choice, who am I to tell anyone that they are playing the game wrong. No one listens to me anyhow.08/18/2011 at 10:08 pm #1952038Folks sure are not shy about speaking up on this change…this is the lamest thing I have seen the frog do since they opened up the waymarking site and banned the virts.
08/18/2011 at 10:10 pm #1952039According to GEOCACHING:Geocaching is a real-world outdoor treasure hunting game. Players try to locate hidden containers, called geocaches, using GPS-enabled devices and then share their experiences online.
08/18/2011 at 10:10 pm #1952040The frog will be tired tonight after having archived 1,000’s of challenge caches. I guess a location is needed for a challenge. I might wait a few weeks to see how this evolves. I am sure it will be more like virtual caches in a short time.
08/18/2011 at 10:16 pm #1952041I can honestly see both sides of this argumant. Yes, it is not “caching” but one cannot call out cachers as “not honest true cachers” who does a challenge.
What I got from this was that they intended for these challenges to be at Monuments, and other areas that a cache cannot be placed. I think they were hoping that these challenges would help bring more people to these kind of places.
Do I like these new challenges? Not sure yet. They may have some potential. But again, they may not.
Sandman, not to pick on you but I did take offence of your “true honest cachers”. I have 1028 caches found and 1 challenge completed, that does not make me a dishonest cacher.
Just my honest opinion.
