Sandman, not to pick on you but I did take offence of your “true honest cachers”. I have 1028 caches found and 1 challenge completed, that does not make me a dishonest cacher.
Just my honest opinion.
I’m truly very sorry I didn’t mean to offend you in any way I also do have a challenge thing for climbing a tree I know that you are not a dishonest cacher but I can see people logging these things when they haven’t done them that’s all please accept my apology for offending you I’m sorry.
:ftp: Just to throw that out there 😆 😆 😆 😆
08/18/2011 at 10:42 pm #1952043Apology accepted. Just had to get it out there because I think this conversation can be good. I don’t want the bashing which could result in locking up the board (like what happened with two previous discussions).
I do think that the intentions were on the good side when they rolled them out though.
08/18/2011 at 11:47 pm #1952044first person to finish 100 challenges gets a free gun lock. (for those of you who were at West Bend you will understand)
08/19/2011 at 12:59 am #1952045I’m thinking of some really great challenges…
“Say your name”
“Read this for a smiley”
“Take a photo of you or a family member chasing headlights”
“Recreate the final scene from Thelma and Louise”
I could put in coords to David Cantrell’s house and have the challenge be “Drive here and honk your horn”.

08/19/2011 at 1:13 am #1952047I did see one challenge I liked, it involved taking a picture of your butt to show the frog what you thought of the new challenges.
Appears to have been archived already, go figure. 😉

Maybe I’m the only one confused, but how do these challenges relate to geocaching?
I think I logged one virtual right after we started and it happened to be in one of my favorite cities. I know I’d like to see them back so a friend can enjoy more caching in SC (if legal stuff doesn’t apply to virtuals). You can’t tell me that making someone go to some kind of actual landmark isn’t better than my turning around and grabbing one of the million frog things I collect to post a picture of myself kissing it?! That’s caching how?! Because I have to log where I did it? I use the check in feature on Facebook. Do I get a smiley every time I go to Starbucks?
I’m at 199 caches. I didn’t realize changing my “will attend” to “attended” for last year’s and this year’s Bache would give me cache credits. A challenge just got me to 199. I don’t think my husband would forgive me if I log our next milestone from my computer desk; he was already skeptical about the attendance logs.
Don’t get me wrong. I’m going to do these when I’m extremely bored and need a break from studying if they stick around

Well, my stat bar says 198 found, 1 Hidden, 1 Challenge despite the top of the account page saying 199. Didn’t realize that.

Coords are already out there! (If you are a premium member). But you can add drop off an ice cold BEER before you honk your horn. :gna:
08/19/2011 at 2:48 am #1952051This is what I am posting on Jermey Irish’s FB page:
Is this what companies do when they loose their way? Forget their core business and spend time developing crackpot ideas? Geocaching is (at least was) about location. This looks like it is about developing lame one-upmanship battles. Jeeeez, I cannot imagine a worse idea.
