From Geocaching.com homepage:
“Explore the world as you search for the cache using a GPS device or smartphone. Find the cache, sign the logbook and see what others have left behind.”Also
“Go somewhere, do something. That’s the basic idea behind Geocaching Challenges.”
Those are 2 very separate things and contradict one another. It should be so obvious that this activity is more similar to waymarking than geocaching. I hope they AT LEAST decide to segregate the find count.
08/19/2011 at 10:17 pm #1952088Looks like your profile stats list total finds including Challenges while down farther your stat box show your Geocache finds, so they are segregated.

08/20/2011 at 2:06 am #1952089I just wanna delete theone challenge I completed dont want that on my finds
08/20/2011 at 2:15 am #1952090I actually thought about archiving mine. I created it just to try it out, but 4 thumbs up and 5 completed without a single thumbs down. It’s certainly not my creativity, but the subject matter is great (IMHO).
08/20/2011 at 2:19 am #1952091was reading on the Latitude42 blog that the functionality to remove the challenges will be available soon, but they have promised other features “soon” and have never transpired so don’t hold your breath, or we might have a blue sandman
08/20/2011 at 3:50 am #1952092I want to have some fun and thumbs down a few stupid challenges but I can’t even get a list of ones “near” me. what is the magic location code to get a list? typed in Wisconsin and it came up with nothing, United States, same result…

There is one at Holy Hill in the town of Erin. I popped in a GC code for a cache in Oconomowoc and it came up.
08/20/2011 at 3:52 am #1952094tried home coords…. still nothing. must run on a 10 mile search radius????

08/20/2011 at 3:55 am #1952095…and now 5 minutes later I come up with empty results. Still buggy I guess. Try entering a city and state.” Erin, wi” turned up two results

08/20/2011 at 3:55 pm #1952097I did a couple to try it.. Doesnt feel like geocaching to me.
08/20/2011 at 5:16 pm #1952098The search is a 25 mile radius.
08/20/2011 at 11:38 pm #1952099search is a 25 mile radius but when you click on the Neenah search, one is listed as 31.1 miles away…. can you say inconsistant?

08/21/2011 at 12:35 am #1952100I think challenges could have a place for puzzles where the container is incidental…prove your solve to log? Also to highlight an interesting location where the .1 mile rule prohibits a physical cache…perhaps others. What do you think s¦s???
On the Left Side of the Road...08/21/2011 at 1:39 am #1952101I won’t be doing any challenges. Even if these were used for puzzles, that’s just not geocaching. To me “geocaching” is finding a container and signing a log.
Yes – I’ve logged virtuals and earthcaches, but these are very specific and require a visit with verification by the CO (if they care).
