Example: This Northern February 2018 cache GC3N2KT “I Think Eye Spy a Monster” could have had this post as a note to put notice on the cache page of the nomination and the redirect to the WGA website:

    Wisconsin Geocaching Association

    Write note

This cache has been nominated for the Wisconsin Geocaching Association Oct. Cache of the Month. For more information click here.

I would like to say, why not reduce the 5 regions to the now clearly defined 4 Quadrants?

That was my thought also. I also agree 1 cache per state is not enough.

Changes are great, but updates are necessary to keep alive and an accurate COTM. I just noticed the Winner’s Map is not updated. I doubled a March 2018 nomination for https://coord.info/GC6DHKV Here’s Lookin’ At You Kid in Mercer, WI. I doubled checked the map because I was sure it was a winner. So I nominated it again. Well, well, well — This was a winner in Nov 2016 so the winner’s map may be at least 1 1/2 years behind?

It’s far easier to look at the Winner’s Map to see the visual, at-a-glance, winner’s instead of scrolling through a long list of previous winners over the many years the COTM has been awarded.

Perhaps Update First as a priority before changes are made?

Not a bad idea. Also the list of winners only goes back to March of 2015 while the list of nominees goes all the way back to 2003!

Actually the winner’s list on the WGA website goes back to 2015, the winners *bookmark list* stored at geocaching.com however shows the WGA COTM winners from 2002-2014.  The two lists really need to be merged together so that one doesn’t have to search both lists before nominating a cache that might have already won.

I think if the “found by you” spot on the page worked it would also help. People may not remember the cache name but when it shows they found it, it could jar their memory.

Another thing I’m doing is advertising at events.  It happens that the event I just hosted was near one of the nominees for the NE zone, so I was telling everybody to go look for it.

I think that’s another great idea Hodag.

Suggestions will be taken through this month, and we hope to have a decision made in April.

the API linking for the “found by you” hasn’t worked for a long time. I don’t know if it is something that can be revived or not.
it could be something that needs the cacher’s individual token renewed. As this is a problem with the LCG loading too, I am not sure if the code can be updated to make this work again.

Where is the COTM blue ribbon html listed? I found it easily last time it was needed. No such luck now… Thanks.

We are working on that link. Some updates may have caused issues.

Is there no longer a West-Central region??? It shows it on the map but not in the polls.
