Okay, enough waiting around! Who else has tried the Abbi Half Dozen cache in Racine by Team JJJTBA? It has only been found once (by a newbie) and us “experienced” cachers are coming up empty.
http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?guid=0e3e99a7-994b-46eb-8edd-3432e4dda2c7&log=y&decrypt=Has anyone at least narrowed it down to what tree it is? Any leads from anybody? Maybe we can get JJJTBA to fess up and give us a good hint if we all ask nicely.
03/25/2005 at 5:39 am #1740411I e-mailed John the other day…I had a no find there as well. In my e-mail I had written that the cache was probably in a hole in the ground with pine needles and leaves covered over it and he said no. He says, it is really not that hard to find?
This makes me think back to when we were all trying to find hotel spa 6.5 (or whatever the name is). Happy Easter everyone, leave for Florida in 8 hours. Tami03/25/2005 at 1:09 pm #1740412If you decode this message you will lower the difficulty rating of Abbi to between a 2 and 3.

03/25/2005 at 5:09 pm #1740413I don’t even get the clue!
03/25/2005 at 6:09 pm #1740414Interesting! That’s all I can say. Mom taught me to put the best construction on everything. I am also glad that there are 2086 other caches in the state left to find.

03/25/2005 at 7:31 pm #1740416I was finally able to get this one off of my list today. Found it with Uncle Fun this morning. The area was starting to get trashed with all of the foot traffic and some of the branches on the trees were being destroyed. Here’s a copy of my log:
N 42° 47.024 W 087° 46.066
Third time’s a charm! Came this morning with Uncle Fun and company. We were looking through the trees as usual when Uncle Fun noticed it. All I have to say is not to do this one alone, unless you’re Professor from Ecorangers. Bring something to help you assist retrieving the cache. Small children will work very nicely for this one. I’m glad to get this one off of my list. Very challenging hide![This message has been edited by whitnallgps (edited 03-25-2005).]
03/25/2005 at 8:04 pm #1740417Well, today was interesting.
We were concerned about the reference to damage and to the level of concern about the difficulty. So we asked the WGA President to come down and take a stab at it. His post in on http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?guid=0e3e99a7-994b-46eb-8edd-3432e4dda2c7
The coded clue we gave …. is actually just that – a clue. But we couldn’t make it that easy, it is a 4 star difficulty after all.
Good luck to all.

I agree with you JJJTBA. If it’s meant to be that hard, don’t give it away. If someone doesn’t like a really hard cache, they can search elsewhere.
Thanks for challenging us!
03/28/2005 at 1:49 am #1740419I think a hint, although helpful, would take away from the mystique of the cache. I myself like a challenge..sooner or later, We’ll figure it out..even if it takes a few more trips. Looks like people are finding it now anyways.

I agree that hints are fine but sometime get in the way of the hunt. I just read the cache page and some of the logs. I was disappointed that someone logged the find so full of clues and hints that anyone coming after them would be able to walk right up to it. Without mentioning any names, I would like to request that this person re-thinks their log and edits it…you know who you are… …! Isn’t it enough that you found it? Why spoil it for everyone else?
MB03/28/2005 at 4:52 pm #1740421As a cache owner, I actually had to delete someone’s log and ask them to re-log it. They completely gave away a four-star difficulty hide! To their credit, at least they encrypted it; but it truly was a complete giveaway! They were kind enough to re-log it after I sent the newbies an email explaining why their log was gone and the “geo-ethics” of logging dead-giveaways. I must say though, its only in extreme circumstances that I’d ever do that again!
For those of you wondering, it was the USS KRAKEN.
