For those of you who I haven’t had a chance to meet in person, a little about me.
I am married to my wife, Lisa… aka wifeyole and we have three geocaching Oles (lilole age 11, 00Ole age 10 and JrOle age 8). We live in Waukesha, which has hosted a number of geocaching events over the last few years. My wife’s brother, who I’ve been friends with since high school, introduced me to geocaching in 2009. Lisa gave me a Delorme PN-40 GPSr as a wedding present and I started caching regularly in the fall of 2010. I’ve enjoyed so much about this hobby. I love chasing the golden oldie caches. I love finding and hiding event caches. I love the thrill of looking for a FTF. I love that geocaching gets my family and I outside to enjoy all of what Wisconsin or wherever we travel to has to offer. I love the friends I’ve made and the people I’ve met at events throughout the 10 + years I’ve been caching. I’ve really enjoyed attending the WGA picnic and campouts over the last few years throughout the state.
Over the years, I’ve organized and co-hosted a few events in Waukesha. I started the Waukesha Road Rally geo-competition in 2012 and have held every other year since. In 2018, Chris (Walking Adventure) expanded this event to the Fox Valley.
I’ve helped AuntieNae and Hack1of2 organize and hide for the Waukesha Winter Janboree over the last 10 years.
Lacknothing and I also resurrected the very popular Gifted Snowbuster Event (a white elephant gift exchange) the last few years. This event was originally created by GR8eyes and was kept going through the past 17 years by AuntieNae, Blue Crow Expedition, TomK and many others. The next event is this weekend, February 2nd in Waukesha! I hope to see some new faces there and put faces to new names.
I work as an inpatient and ambulatory clinical pharmacist at a hospital in Milwaukee. I also enjoy traveling whenever I can, Packers football, craft breweries and annually continue a Norwegian tradition of making lefse with my family.
I was on the board from 2021 – 2023 and served as the Vice President for my second year. I stepped away for a two year hiatus and am hoping to be back for the next couple of years. During my time on the board, I’m proud I was a creator and hider of the WGA IAT series along with lacknothing and bfredericks88. If re-elected, it is my hope to create another state wide series. I am also proud that we have re-envisioned the lonely cache cache and cache rescue program. I have been active within the WGA during my time off the board as a volunteer administrator of the lonely cache game along with lacknothing and BigJim60.
Overall, I’m just excited to be get involved again. I would love to see more geocachers in Wisconsin get to know what the WGA is all about and get excited for caching.
Please feel free to message me at [email protected] (yes, I still have an AOL account!) or contact me through these forums with any questions. I am also on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/chevyole). I will try to respond to everyone.
Take care and see you on the trails –
Mark — chevyole
