April 14th is International Cache In Trash Out day. Just by pure coincidence I am hosting a CITO event that day. This event also is part of the kick off for the Chippewa Valley CBV Geocaching promotion, so an eventful day in the Chippewa Valley it will be!!

I have made some updates to the cache page so I am going to post them here also:

    ……………………..UPDATE………………………

It looks like the weather may not cooperate with us on Saturday. Instead of a meal type potluck, we are going to have more of a snack and beverage potluck starting at 5:00pm. Hot beverages – coffee, tea and hot chocolate will be availalbe from 8am – noon and again from 5pm – 6pm. We will be doing a group photo and prize drawing at 6pm. Prizes will include dining certificates, gift certificates, overnight stays to the Chippewa Valley and others yet to be determined. If you participate in CITO at McDonough Neighborhood Park you will have a chance of getting some other prizes. There will be a computer available if you need to download coordinates for the event caches. Come join us for the fun!!

    …………………..Schedule……………………….

8am-noon – CITO at McDonough Park, hot beverages available

noon-6pm – Free Choice CITO – do CITO as you cache and bring your trash back to the event by 6pm to get in on the prize drawings and get a free geocoin if you are in the first 100 to participate.

5pm-6pm – Bring a snack to share and turn in your prize drawing slips. You get to turn in one slip for every bag of garbage that you collect doing CITO, at McDonough Park or any other park/public area.

6pm – Group picture and prize drawing – you must be present to win.

So, if you are out geocaching on Saturday – pick up some trash while you are at it and bring it to the CITO event at 6pm. You may win a prize, you will get to chat with some other local geocachers and you will make the Chippewa Valley a cleaner place. Hope to see you there!!

Yes bags will be provided, unsure of size..

And while out there yesterday, I did take notice that it is a dog friendly site, with a sign that just says to pick up after your dog. I think you asked about this before.

I will have some large heavy duty garbage bags and some small shopping type bags available. I figured the smaller ones might be easier to handle especially for kids.

There will be a computer with internet access and printer available at the event for those people interested in downloading the forms for the Chippewa Valley CVB Geocaching promotion. We will also have the WGA “eggplant” available for downloading coordinates on to your GPSrs. A big Thanks to the WGA for use of the eggplant and to Ruth Holliday for helping me out!!

Just picked up the prizes for the drawing from the visitors bureau and WOW, there are some good ones. There will be drawings for adults and junior cachers – so be sure to bring them with. One prize I know they will be interested in is an $80 gift card to non other than Action City! That should get them motivated to pick up some trash! I picked up some other prizes for the kids as well. For the adults we have some hotel stays, canoe trips and some other prizes as well. Looks like it might be a nice day after all, so hope to see you all there!!
