Excuse me. I tend to mix names up. The proper name is Chippewa Valley Convention and Visitors Bureau. CVB not CTB. I am having one of those weeks.
04/27/2006 at 12:40 pm #1739266Here is page with a bit more info. FIRST, THE DATES ARE ON THE WEBPAGE, but event will start May 8n thru June 15. Date change apparently for technical reasons. When event goes active in the next week there will also be a link with hotel rates, specials, etc. More to come. Oh, and they are thinking they are also going to be giving as prizes gas cards as well! Those just aren’t listed yet.

04/27/2006 at 4:03 pm #1739267For anyone planning a Memorial Day weekend visit, the Chippewa Valley Conventions & Visitors office will be open.
04/27/2006 at 9:28 pm #1739268Whoo Hoo! Glad to hear they’re open Memorial Day weekend. Four days of caching in a great part of the state. I was worried we’d be outta luck….
04/30/2006 at 3:23 am #1739269For those of you seeking GPX file, I have one made. We are looking to confirm 2 cache coordinates, and once we get those, I will make the final file. I will make sure CVB has the file available to download.
05/04/2006 at 1:55 pm #1739270Finishing touches are being done. Passbooks are in final draft, coords have been triple checked, Zuma replaced washed out cache, GPX file is sent to CVB website for download for event. Things are ready to rock. Event goes live 5/8. Stay tuned.
05/05/2006 at 2:38 pm #1739271EVENT STARTS 12:01 A.M. MONDAY MORNING. WEBPAGE GOES LIVE THEN TOO!!! When you agree to waiver of liability, you will be redirected to the area to download passbook and GPX file.
Names of caches in the GPX file (that show up in your GPSr) are in sequence of passbook, i.e. first cache in book will be CVGC001 thru GVCG032. Parking coords use cache names not numbers; i.e. Old Peeper Parking.
Enjoy!

05/08/2006 at 1:44 pm #1739273Kent: I’ve logged in the new website. Clicking on the ‘download gpx file’ results in a garbled word text. ????
Is there a glich in the system?

I tried it out and it is a XML document.
05/08/2006 at 7:38 pm #1739275Ok, what is it, and how do I use it to get coords loaded into my gps and mapping system?
05/08/2006 at 10:05 pm #1739276Regarding the xml file: I use Gsak and I had to rename the file per Gsak error report and then it accepted it. I’ll have to edit all the waypoints in Gsak in order to get usable info to put in my PDA. Don’t think the file was configured right. Will be a lot of editing but can to done.
05/09/2006 at 12:44 am #1739277It somehow got converted from GPX when I sent it to them this weekend. I have resent it. They should have new file up tomorrow morning. Until then go with what others suggest. It was made with GSAK.
Thanks for the patience!
05/09/2006 at 1:25 am #1739278One more thing. For those that have already downloaded it and found it to not work. You can wait until CVB uploads correct file (which I was told will be no later than 9 am tomorrow 5/9/06), or email me at [email protected] and I will send it as an attachment. However, I need you to send the XML file as an attachment so I know you did the liability waiver thingy (that is what the lawyers say anyway…) Sorry about that. Glitch or Opening day jitters… 🙂

05/09/2006 at 10:02 am #1739279First day of the Chippewa Valley event got off to an awesome start!!!! Thanks a lot Kent for all you did to get this going.
There were at least 5 teams out opening day, I saw KeithTS and LouMag on the trails, and saw logs by FSUNotes and Toejam.
Again, awesome job, Kent!!!! (But where in the world in that old car is the dang cache????)
