There is a problem apparently with the GPX file and those who are using foxfire browsers. The Tech guy is working on a workaround, but apparently IE users should have no problems.
Also, reports coming in that the Room with a View Cache is on disputed property. The B&B that owns the land gave clearance to place there, but a neighbor claims it is his land. I would avoid that one until clear.
Fun fun! Thanks for playing!

Hi Kent,After doing some server tweaking, the gpx file seems to correctly prompt a save dialog box and correctly saves the file using IE. Firefox still displays an XML file on my machine. However, you can right click and save as a file on both IE and Firefox. I don’t believe the file layout was the problem because the behavior was the same with both the original and newly received file. Browser settings can also affect behavior. We’ll continue to work on this and hopefully come up with a resolution later today.
Hope this helps.Kent

You can tell the tech guy that this is probably a web server configuration issue, and not a browser/Firefox issue. The server needs to be set up treat the .gpx files as the MIME type application/gpx (which will cause all browsers to pop up the open with/save as dialog), not serve them up as a regular text file. If he’s running Apache, he should add a line to /etc/mime.types…
05/09/2006 at 2:35 pm #1739283It appears that the CVB server issues are fixed. The GPX file is now available for download and use. Thanks for your patience and participation!!!!
05/09/2006 at 2:37 pm #1739284One other glitch: When on the “posting” page on the CV cache page, where you would go to log a find or comment on the cache, Firefox does not have a Submit button on the bottom of the page, like it should. I normally use Firefox, and could not get my posts to submit.
The work around is fairly simple: Just switch to IE, and the submit button shows up.
Also, a minor typo in my previous post. I misspelled Zoejam as Toejam, and I think there is quite a bit of difference between the two, so my apologies for the error.

I wouldn’t consider that a simple solution. I will not use IE unless I *absolutely* have to and I would not consider this one of those cases.
The solution, in my mind, is that the site should work with Firefox/Mozilla.
05/09/2006 at 4:48 pm #1739286The foxfire issue is being fixed as I type per CVB. You should be able to post comments to the pages from foxfire ASAP.
05/09/2006 at 10:05 pm #1739287And I hear Zuma was cleared of …..ah, certain charges. And he is going to be the next President!

So how to I get back to this page without registering again?
05/09/2006 at 10:16 pm #1739289The welcome email that was sent to you should have the link on it to get you back to the down load page.
05/10/2006 at 12:22 pm #1739290Well my wife and I hit some of the caches yesterday and cached in some nice palaces and also learned of a great place to suggest to our kids school for next year as a possible field trip. We will make another trip back after the campout to look for more. The only thing I would say, that is not noted, is that there are a few places that do not allow pets. I bring this up because of rising temps leaving your pet in the car might not be an option.
Good job to the set up and planning of this.

Ah! It might help if I actually read my email instead of just filing it away. Thanks.
05/10/2006 at 3:00 pm #1739292To simplify things… Once you register you get a confirmation email that has a link to get back in to the boards. Here is the link.
http://www.geocachingwisconsin.com/index.cfm?event=postingpage05/15/2006 at 11:06 pm #1739293Did a few more of the CV event caches today, and thought they were all great. This event is hightly reccommended, and I think you will find it worth the gas to drive up to the Chippewa Valley.
One problem I ran into is stamps that wont let go of the paper. Each cache has a stamp that cuts a hole into the paper. About 25% of the time the stamper grabs the paper and wont let ya retrieve your paper without tearing it. If ya run into this problem, the solution is to take the bottom of the stamper off, and use a pen to push the stamper blades up.
I also notice that most caches have been visited by 5 – 9 teams so far. However, far less than that are logging them onto the CV event page. Pleases remember to log them into the CV event page so that those who placed them can do what needs to be done to maintain the caches for the entire event.
And, once again, kudos to Kent for putting this together.
