05/19/2006 at 12:30 pm #1739297Thanks for the info on the gas card. We are going up Tuesday morning.
05/21/2006 at 5:58 pm #1739298Well I finished the event Sat 5/20 and turn in my pass book today. This was a fun interesting, educational, and enlightening event. It took me through the bramble and pickers over, under, atop and next to all sorts of different things and places. Been to places I haven’t been to before and places I haven’t been to in very long time. Big thanks to all involved. Geocaching at is finest!
05/22/2006 at 1:33 am #1739299So, outside of the internet, how is this event being promoted?
05/22/2006 at 1:59 pm #1739300Since this is a fledgling event, promo was kept small. It has been internet, Charter communications has filmed a segment that is airing, a PR firm has been dropping info in the Twin cities with TV and radio stations and banners on those websites (which are kind a cute, by the way).
Since this is being seriously considered as an annual thing, we are starting to talk about what to do different and would welcome emails with suggestions to pass on to the muggle PTB, the folk at CVB, and others who are wanting to climb on board…
05/22/2006 at 6:23 pm #1739301I noticed that on the passbook and on the official rules it states that the contest lasts until June 18th, but on the home page for the Chippewa Valley Convention and Visitors Bureau it states that the contest ends on the 15th.
05/23/2006 at 7:31 pm #1739302We spent the weekend doing Chippewa Valley geocaches. We did not have time to do all of them, but did caches by all the placers. Very good caches, interesting trails, some very long muddy roads, some road names/places that our supposedly 2006 mapping didn’t contain, some very clever hides and containers, interesting history, great scenic views. All in all a great event!
05/24/2006 at 1:11 pm #1739303I talked to CVB and the event runs through the 18th. They have fixed the website.

As of this morning, there are 436 entires into the Chippewa Valley event including a ton from MN, 5 from California, 2 from Kentucky, a couple from the Carolinas and one from Oregon. While it is the CVB’s event, I am just absolutely tickled with this!!!! And there are still a couple weeks to go! I’ll post more info as I get it.

Completed the event over the Memorial Day weeked – despite the blistering hot weather. Had a great time, and enjoy the time. Looking forward to next year!
Thanks Kent, for all your hard work.
06/02/2006 at 4:35 pm #1739307as of 9 this morning 557 people entered in event! 16 days to go!
06/04/2006 at 7:35 pm #1739308Only seven more caches to find!!! Only fell down one steep hill, leading to the river. Managed to stop before I reached the river. After a couple days for the holes in my leg to heal, I’ll be back to finish these. I will not give up!!!!! 😀
06/05/2006 at 2:14 pm #1739309As of 9 am this morning we have over 900 people who have registered; including 11 from California, 6 from Tennessee, an bunch from Pennsylvania, the Carolinas, Georgia, Kentucky and Ohio.
Thank you for all you who have come up to participate. I, personally, cannot get over this. I keep giggling when I think of it. Those of you who know me, giggling is not a pretty sight!!!!
