We happened to be in CF for another purpose and ran across a couple cachers while finishing the Leinie’s tour. Being the responsible cacher that I am, I knew there wasn’t a listed cache that close to the brewery so I had to ask what was going on. That was the FIRST time I had heard about the event. Had I known about it earlier I would have been an eager participant, but alas I will have to wait for the next event. I LOVE THIS IDEA and would drive a long ways to come to something like this. Thanks for all the hard work and I hope that this event is done again soon.

06/21/2006 at 1:06 am #1739312With everything going on in the Chippewa Valley last week, we only managed to have time for 6 or 7 of them. But we got our book turned in and received our very nice commemorative coin. Thanks for all your work on this Kent (and everyone else)! We look forward to it again next year.
My only suggestion is to have it go longer into the summer. There was only a week there after school was out to go get some done. More time would have been excellent! But maybe I was the only one with this issue.

One problem I ran into is stamps that wont let go of the paper. Each cache has a stamp that cuts a hole into the paper. About 25% of the time the stamper grabs the paper and wont let ya retrieve your paper without tearing it. If ya run into this problem, the solution is to take the bottom of the stamper off, and use a pen to push the stamper blades up.

Keep On Cachin In The Free World.I found that using a hard flat surface to punch on, such as my clipboard, solved this problem.
06/22/2006 at 1:06 am #1739314BTW, there was some mention of some of these becoming permanent caches. When will we find out about the details?
06/23/2006 at 5:52 am #1739315Some of the caches from the Chippewa Valley Event are now listed on geocaching.com as new caches. Just an FYI.
06/23/2006 at 6:23 pm #1739316Where do you get the commemorative coin, I turned in my passbook Sunday, 5/21/2006, and was told, Wow! You found all these already? Thanked me and I left. Sounds like the event was a great success, I know I had a great time finding the caches.
06/23/2006 at 6:48 pm #1739317We asked for the coin when we stopped in to get the gas card and they said that we get the coin when we turn in the passbook. I asked them how we get the coin if we sent in the passbook and they said that they would mail it back right away. We ended up turning it in before we left and again had to ask for the coin. They looked around and found it, so we got it before we left. It seems that the volunteers they have working there have no clue as to what is going on with the whole event. The first time we were there, they didn’t even know the event was going on. My suggestion would be to call the visitors center and explain that you turned your passbook in and did not get the coin. I’m sure they would be happy to send you one.
