Chippewa Valley Geocaching Event, 2007

The old subject got bogged down with other stuff. Here is the new line and update.

It’s official Cache fans. The Chippewa Valley Convention and Visitor’s Bureau will be hosting 100 caches for the event, to kick off on 4/14. Of those 74 have been submitted, and just about all are already approved for Geocaching.com. This year, we are featuring several mystery caches, many Multi caches, and three night caches as well as a large assortment of traditional caches. This list of thanks for hiding includes: Zuma!, Bobcatw98, TasmaDudes, J+j, Goodmarl and the Sparrows, Jolly Giants, Jim1830, myself, mama kat, LouMag and Jenhen. Nice job, and thanks to the Reviewers for putting up with us and working overtime!!! Stay tuned for more info!!!

😯 100!!!! HOLY CACHES Batman!!!! Between that event and the one up near Rhinelander and possibly another one in St. Cloud… I’m going to need a new pair of hiking shoes and more days off! Not to mention a few hundred batteries.

Whoo Hoo – my first view of one of the actual CITO coins (on ebay of course – it takes mail a little longer to get to my house in the boonies). So here it is, I think it turned out great!!! The Chippewa Valley CITO event coins will be the same, except they are a limited edition silver – not sold at the Caching Place. The coin pictured is also sold out!! So if you want one of these beauties (or the Coins and Pins CITO coin – distribution will be random) come and do some CITO. 100 coins will be given away. Coins first will be distributed to people who post a will attend log for the Chippewa Valley CITO event and attend, remaining coins will be distributed after that to the first people who have not received a coin and do CITO on that day and bring it back to the event. You also will be able to log this event by participating in the “free choice” CITO portion of the event. April 14th also is International Cache In Trash Out Day – http://www.cacheintrashout.org/ . Before this takes legs, let me state for the record that the reporter was using half an ear at times. Caches are NOT TRINKETS… Not sure where he got 90% of caches are outdoors the rest indoors either. We talked about how GPSr works… Anyone know of other indoor ones besides MOA? But, that aside, nice coverage and a great picture of Jim1830!!! At least he (reporter) did not say BURIED TREASURE!!!

Huh. Cool! Still not sure that it reaches the 10% of all caches (10% of all caches are indoors…) the reporter notes though. I gotta check those out though!

The Chippewa Valley Convention and Visitors Bureau is planning a Chippewa Valley Geocache Hunt Finale Event starting Saturday June 2nd and ending on Sunday, June 3rd at the Eau Claire County Expo Center. This event will feature camping, outdoor product vendors, a night cache, a timed challenge course and a puzzle cache. Pre-registration is required for this event. We need a minimum of 30 registered campers and 50 registered event participants in order to move forward with this event. The cost is $20 per campsite per night and $10 per person for event registration. Please contact the Chippewa Valley Convention and Visitors Bureau at 1-888-523-3866 by May 10th to pre-register.

Ug! You meant this June 2nd? Can’t do it; I’ll be oogling Lance Armstrong as I ride past him in the Trek 100. I somehow let this whole event slip through my fingers! Any chance that you folks will consider moving the Chippewa Falls event closer to Milwaukee next year?

Oops, didnt see this until tonight. Guess I have to more carefully read the boards. LOL.

I do want to encourage folks to come over to the Chippewa Valley and cache. The event caches are just wonderful. I havent done them all yet, but have done most of them, and the quality of the caches is exceptionally high. If ya come and cache here, I am sure you will have a great time.

Thanks to Kent for pulling together a great event. The caches are great. Kent has done an awesome job in putting this out.

Regarding the finale – is this the only place the CVB is advertising that? I may have missed it, but I didn’t see any information on it on their own website.

HI Ruth-
I don’t know. They were going to put the announcement on the announcement page too, but then we did the cleanup of the caches and coordinates, so not sure how long it was up there.
