I think this goes way beyond what “Off Topic” was intened for.
Oh? I was under the impression that off topics were off topics. Suppose you’re suggesting that off topics should be more “on topic”?
This is a subcect more suited for an editorial in a local newspaper.
I sincerely hope you aren’t so uncomfortable reading your local newspaper as you are reading this thread.
For anyone else who is concerned, clicking a thread titled “city crime rates”, they shouldnt be surprised when they discover a thread thats about city crime rates.
I think it’s time for the board to do something about this guy Helidood. He is definitely not an asset to the WGA.
This is off topic. There is not any profanity and we did not attack anybody personally. Asking the board to “do something” is wrong, he hasn’t done anything to validate that move. Maybe you should just ignore the thread you you don’t like it!
01/21/2010 at 8:22 pm #1920752i was talking to a fellow cacher and this conversation came up.
he proceeded to tell me when he was visiting his relatives in Detroit,MI he stated that he wanted to go caching and his relatives friend “thats a cop” said he doubts that there will be caches north of where hes staying(do to crime)and sure enough he was right. GC1T5M4 not a really good area north of this cache, nothing within a large circumference north of this cache.01/21/2010 at 8:25 pm #1920753@lone_gunman wrote:
Easy now boys.
Helidood: I think his problem is more to do with only the first 2 postings being in regards to crime rates. After that, you veered significantly. What I wanted to point out was how uptight a lot of Wisconsin residents are about visiting a typical metropolitan area.
A lot of those fears people have of the city come from stereotypes and prejudices based on the images from TV and Movies.
Based on my own observations, I want to say this is especially true in rural and small-town Wisconsin. Those “social barriers” I mentioned when I brought up political correctness, thats where a lot of the prejudices exist, possibly even among those concerned or paranoid about being politically correct.
I pointed out that Milwaukee, comparatively speaking, isn’t all that bad as far as crime goes.
As far as metropolitan areas go, Milwaukee is one of the safest there is.Not saying violent crimes in Milwaukee don’t happen. Recent news is proof of that. Yes, it’s unfortunate, but those things happen everywhere. Today just happened to be Milwaukee’s day for it to happen. 🙁
It’s just so happens that the more people you cram in an area, the greater the chances of an incident occurring near you.
But, with the more people you cram into an area, the chances of you personally or someone you know being the victim of a violent crime don’t increase. They decrease. If either myself or harsh reality offends you, I’m sorry.[/b]

Thanks Jerrys dad.
If anyone else doesn’t like what I write, I would appreciate if you either ignore it, or address me privately and we’ll discuss it via PM.For Mister Greenthumb, you’ve got a standing invitation to meet at a convenient place and get a cup of coffee or something, as you and I have some things to clear up. This isn’t the first time you’ve expressed yourself in this matter.
01/21/2010 at 8:59 pm #1920755And the local Fox station says violent crime has dropped by 13% this year per the MPD!

Appleton is another story! Where do they rank on the list?
You should be VERY afraid! 8)
01/21/2010 at 11:28 pm #1920757What scares me are all those puzzles! 🙁

#1 When it comes to puzzles……….
The only thing that scares me about Appleton is all the puzzles caches…yuck.. I hope that it is not spreading.
01/21/2010 at 11:46 pm #1920760There was a drive by shooting in Appleton this morning near my house. The house behind one of my coworker’s was the “target”.
It’s real safe here.

It’s amazing how there aren’t ANY caches in that area in Detroit. Says a lot.

And my hometown of little ole’ Berlin just nabbed 30+ drug dealers and it made the USA Today. So much for safety.
