Like I mentioned in the Event caches – topic over on “Announcements” I am NOT trying to be sarcastic when asking these questions. These are things I have genuine concern about.
1. If we (the WGA) decided that classes should NOT be held/listed as an event on GC.com, then how are we going to get the word out to cachers out there, when our membership in WGA is FAR less than the # of cachers in the state??
2. Does anyone feel that the idea listing/posting classes ONLY on the WGA would be a Benefit of being a member & possibly be a reason more cachers to join??
Ok the 2nd question is almost too stupid to ask (LOL) since I am inquiring with people who are already members.

I can’t believe this thread is still going! But since it is…
In reference to the other post…..
_____________
I think it is fine to start a new tread since this is post is not about event listing guidelines for listing. Also I stopped reading the other one awhile back since it seemed to go in circles.
1. I think classes that are free should be listed on GC.com. As pointed out there are more cachers in WI than in the WGA. By having a event cache show up on these peoples area search lets them know there is a WGA and also shows that members of the WGA are active and doing something.

Geocaching is everywhere! There are news reports being done all the time, both on television and in the papers. The numbers of cachers is growing every day. While I’m sure there are many people out there who did get involved because of a class they took, they didn’t hear about that class while they were there. Someone told them about it first. Or they read a sign. Or they saw a poster. Whatever the case…
Most of these papers and news reports say go to GC.com Not to WGA.com. List the free classes on GC.com it’s a free event for cachers by cachers.
2. This is a slight catch 22 here. Listing classes on WGA only helps WGA members and how many times does a WGA member need to take classes to do what they are doing. (Rhetorical question don’t answer it).

We need to get more people involved with the WGA. So… how are we going to get more people invovled?? Will having these lisitng bring more people into the website and if not, how what else can we??
I have heard NUMEROUS people state that they have no reason to join the WGA.. there is nothing here of “Use or Interest” So NOW is our chance to get something of use and interest to increase the #’s.

True…the news reports and papers refer to GC.com. When learning about something new, people often times want just the MAIN info (GC.com) and passively miss other information (WGA.com). I admit.. I do that all the time “Just give me the info I NEEEEEEEED!!” LOL
So, we get a lot of new cachers every month but it would be interesting to so how many join on the WGA each month. Is there a way to monitor both easily??? Might be an interesting to have listed on our site…
xx New Wi cachers
xx New WGA cachers…or maybe not. For me it’s something interesting to watch and if those new people are NOT signing up, I’d be more than happy to participate in a “Welcome Wagon” of such, dropping an FYI to them about the WGA and its importance.
pcFrog as for your Rhetorical Question… Ya got a point there!! Maybe there is no answer.
{edited because my spell chech didn’t catch one of the words…}
