I need a little help from you all. I am competing in the game Coin Quest and am stuck on one of the requirements:
“1) STATUE CACHE
Find a cache that mentions a statue or is near a statue. A virtual cache will not count for this requirement. The cache must contain a logbook that you can sign and date. As long as you can see a statue from the cache location it can count.”Coincidentally, I own a cache that fits this requirement, but of course that won’t count – it has to be something I haven’t found yet. So does anyone out there know of caches that will I can do for this? I hope to find something in the Madison, Waukesha, or Eau Claire area – to minimize driving. But please post any non-virtual cache you know of that is near a statue or sculpture (he said those qualify too). Thanks!

11/15/2005 at 5:52 pm #1740983Sorry, the first one I thought of up here, you’ve already found. (Henry Aaron’s Evil Urban Micro.) I’ll think some more.
11/15/2005 at 8:11 pm #1740984This one in Mayville overlooks a statue; in fact a great number of cemetery caches overlook statues. If this is too far also be aware that there several more in the area to do as well to make a trip of it. http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?guid=cc9527ee-60b6-493a-ae39-a5ab 17ae2712
You may also want to visit Waypoint GCPAH8 @ N43 05.161 W88 52.555 to complete another of the 16 tasks…oh nevermind it looks like you logged that one already; bummer.

11/15/2005 at 8:58 pm #1740985Lb7: thanks for the suggestion. Mayville is not too far away, so I’ll definitely keep it in mind.
Ideally, I’d like to find one where the *primary goal* of the cache is to bring you to see a statue or sculpture. Like this one. I think that’s the intention of the requirement. Technically, I think I could get a cemetery cache to work, but I’d prefer to keep with the spirit of the requirement if possible.
bnb: I thought of that one too, but yes I’ve done it already, and frankly I wished it was closer to the statue.

How about one for the ‘cave’ requirement?
Any nearby besides Rubens Cave Cache?

11/16/2005 at 8:03 pm #1740991Any others out here doing this one?
If so, looks like we could use an event? maybe somewhere in the Madison/Milwaukee region?
Mike of team: Not So Lost Puppies11/16/2005 at 10:24 pm #1740992At the risk of sounding stupid… what is this challenge about?? How did you get into it?
I know we live way to far away for you to come up to Eagle River where we are all snowed in but we recently put out a cache to take people to a little unknown park with several large wood carvings. Beautiful art statues. Not sure if I can do a link with webtv but our zip is 54521 and the cache is Klondike park.
I wonder if Metamorphisis in Appleton would qualify, there is a large piece of artwork there to honor Houdini.

my cache spelunking in magnolia (GCQRXZ) would qualify as a cave also, and is easy to get to compaired to rubens cave(and not on public hunting grounds). i would recommend doing rubens cave also, a great cache to visit, i have been back to area a few times with different groups.

Magnolia is the one I’m planning to do. Jesus’ Tomb I’m sure would also qualify if anyone up there wants to compete.
Info on the contest can be found at the link in my first post.

Jesus’ tomb is a bit far away.btw, got my first one logged – a FTF
planning a graveyard and a micro for this evening and maybe a TB drop as well.
May try and place one this weekend as well.Anyone planning an event in the Madison/Milwaukee area?
Mike of team: Not So Lost Puppies11/17/2005 at 3:37 pm #1740996That “Cave” one is a toughy. I ran into GizFinder yesterday and we tossed some ideas around. He suggested “Twelve Spooky Grottos” as falling into that catagory. Looking at what qualifies….it might be the edge but I’m going to use it. They are like lil shallow caves. Took some pics as a back up!! LOL.
The Event one is tough this time of year. and the 3digit one… sheesh.. nuthing up this way! I did A LOT of checking!
