You can view the location and other details at the geocaching.com page here: http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?guid=d8db4f5e-8e85-4abf-8fd3-9aad41a7550f
01/13/2004 at 9:27 am #1736398Sorry. Can’t call in sick. I dropped dead at work saturday night after being up til three and getting back up at 6 to host the breakfast. i put in three hours at work and pretty much fell over dead. And you better believe i caught $&*! for it today.
btw take a look at when this post is being left. i JUST got home from work! Now if I can pull twelve-hour shifts seven days a week until then, maybe the boss will let me go to madison. (but then, will i have the strength to cache?)
there’ll be another event soon. with so many wonderful friends out there on the trails, i do find the events hard to resist. i’ll see all of you soon, ok?
01/18/2004 at 2:24 am #1736399OK, we’re down to one week to go and as my final incentive (pronounced bribe) to get caches revved up for Caching Through the Snow….DOOR PRIZES have been added to the day’s event. Caching begins at 10 AM and the drawing will be at noon. Prizes in clude a newly painted ammo can, breakfast-in-a-bowl, garden thermometer, and more.
Parking may get a bit crowded so we’re adding the coords of a very close-by parking area: N 43* 14.383 W 89* 43.634
The temporary caches have been placed and are waiting. Let’s Cache Through the Snow!!!

Ummm… does this new parking mean I don’t have to pay someone a dollar to carry me uphill?
01/22/2004 at 1:30 am #1736401Hey Jeff, would that dollar cover carrying all 4 of us uphill or $1 each?

01/22/2004 at 3:47 am #1736402Hey! I’m planning on being there. I might be bringing my dear old mom along, but I don’t know if she’ll want to do all that seeking. Could she maybe hang out by the fire while I’m out looking for caches? She might join me on a few of my adventures — she’s never done this before (not that I have that much more experience than she does!!!)
Thanks!
Bec01/22/2004 at 7:11 pm #1736403Bring Mom along, but remind her there’s a .6 mile climb along a road to the warm shelter. She’s welcome to hang out in the shelter or hike along with any of the groups. Tell here that my wife and I are fifties-something and do stop to check the scenery along the way (nudge-nudge…know what I mean).
01/22/2004 at 11:28 pm #1736404I did let Mom know about the hike to the shelter, and she seems to be okay with it. Mom’s in her 50s too. I was actually sort of surprised she was interested in coming along with me, but she does like the out of doors. Perhaps we’ll convert her…..

01/22/2004 at 11:49 pm #1736405I asked Hotdogs about bringing FRS radios. He suggested we use channel 12. So if you have your FRS, bring them along, and tune in to channel 12 (no subcode). Besides being a great safety item, it’s fun to taunt each other
01/23/2004 at 12:09 am #1736406Hey now, I started cachin’ when I was 52! I feel younger each time I’m out!
01/24/2004 at 1:02 am #1736407Snow!!! We actually got 2-3 inches today, so now the name fits. We’re ready for tomorrow. See you all nest to the roaring fire inside the shelter. Got some mini donuts and chips for snackin’.
