We were thinking of having ours in June on our official 10 year geo-anniversary to celebrate GC’s 20 year anniversary, and launch a new series of caches that ties into that theme  It could have been epic.  We’ll possibly do it for June 2021 instead.

Thinking about having mine here: https://hinderbrewingco.com/

Probably going to do it in the summer though so it can be outside.

I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived.

They have all sorts of funny things all over the place inside like this.

Once we decide it would be  safe for me to host and attend a social event, would people be interested in a Puzzlers Den Event in the Wautoma area? Not sure if I could host one here at our house, although we have room for plenty of people, the TB University may not work with putting another cache here.

I don’t know if they still hold them up around New Richmond/Stillwater, but they did when we first got into caching – although I could never attend. You get together and work with cachers on puzzles you can’t solve, or help people with ones you have solved.

I have multiple puzzle caches in the works, on top of the ones I already have in place, so this is fair warning. Speaking of which, all my caches that involve .exif data are currently not working, despite having used different hosts over the years. Does anyone else have a similar problem, or a solution? One puzzle worked as recently as a few months ago, was found, then *poof* the needed data was gone.

By choosing a location that already has their own COVID-19 guidelines in place lessens the responsibility of the Event host, as well as keeping the event time to the minimum of 2 hours, as stated by Groundspeak. I am thinking of placing a few new hides for the Event, but that would be risky, since a lot of cache seekers would be handling the container during a few hours of each other. The fewer the new hides, the higher the risk, IMO. The safer the better, for the time being.

I was thinking of using mine for 3/21 of next year since my 2020 event had to be cancelled.  Another theme I’ve been considering is hosting a debate between phone cachers and handheld GPS cachers.  Perhaps I can do both in one event.  I’ll hold off for awhile to see what the weather will be like, as well as where are in the pandemic by the time Spring rolls around.  Worst case scenario is I use a local park to enable social distancing.

Time for your Community Social Event reminder:

THE G.O.A.T. (GC8M9FB) will be held this Friday afternoon from 3-5 PM. Stop by for some samples, ice cream, meet some kids, and take “The G.O.A.T. Challenge”! Indoor/outdoor venue, so weather won’t be an issue. Since you took the day off for the now cancelled WB Cash Bash, you may as well have a bit of fun near the east shore of Lake Winnebago!

    See you there!

Over two years since the last post here?  Yes, you still have a chance to attend Community Celebration events through the rest of the year as they come up.  In fact, one just published in Green Bay for next month.  I decided to host mine in conjunction with the WWFM on September 24from noon – 2 p.m.  The location will be the City Deck downtown along the Fox River.  Bring your umbrellas folks, I don’t know if it’ll rain, but that’s the theme of this WWFM event.  The GC code is GC8JZXP
