From previous issues with files for multiple brands of GPS units, it’s best to save the waypoint icon as “waypoint” or “default”.
If you choose anything else, it may not work between different brands.

Hopefully I can merge this into a .gpx file

When I first read the post, I was thinking, we have to go stand in intersections with our GPSrs to mark coordinates? ROTFLOL. I don’t have Mapsource or anything like that, but I don’t think I’ll go hopping over the county with my GPSr to stop traffic, lol.

Are any of you here trained spotters? I took the course for the first time this spring. It was really neat.

Yup, I’ve been a spotter for about 9 or 10 years now. For the past 2 years I’ve been training police officers to be storm spotters. This is also the reason I got my Ham Radio license this summer.

When I saw how screwed up the NWS lat/lon coordinates were, I offered our assistance in creating an accurate GPS database for these locations. Our data could have many different applications.

Convert away using GPSBabel. That’s what I use.

GPSBabel – convert, upload, download data from GPS and Map programs
