Teach this young jedi on the arts of babeling…I tried as instructed and when i click process i get in the box “MAPSOURCE:This doesnt look like a mapsource file” and doesnt convert. I am using the files from mapsource.
any help old mentor….
Strange … I’m assuming your source (Input) file that Mapsource generated ends in .mps right? I’ve tried other options for you, like exporting from Mapsource, but the only choice creates a file that Xcel loves but Babel turns into Null (blank) coordinates.
If you wish … send me the .mps file (indicating what county it is) and I’ll see if I can process it from my end … but I can’t see why it would work for me and not you. I’m at infox -at- nconnect -dot- net

Here is what I did. I started adding my waypoints in the mapsource. and when im done I click on save as and put the county name. Now it saves as a .gbd file. I looked for the .file as you listed and it doesnt show. Do I need to change anything in setting or something??
Waiting for help…

Wow! I’m out of my league.
I never heard of a GBD file.
My Mapsource software makes MPS files.
Can you save as a MPS file type? That’s what you need.Anybody else?

12/20/2004 at 9:19 pm #1740167ok. now i think i figured it out doing some trial and error….
at first i was just clicking save as and I get the .gdb (Garmin Data Base). but If I click on export then I can save it as a .mps file and then transfer it to babel… alot of bouncing around, but it worked.
“Be safe and Keep on Searchin”12/20/2004 at 9:22 pm #1740168After creating waypoints in mapsource:
1) Pull down the file menu and select save as…
2) from the save as type select .gpx
3) type name of file and then save it in a place which is easy to find, perhaps the desktop.
4) Open easygps
5. import the previously created .gpx file
6) In easy gpx pull down the file menu and select save as….
7. Save as type …topografix .loc
8. Type the name of the file add .loc
9. email that .loc file12/20/2004 at 9:26 pm #1740169Thats exactly how I saved my mapsource. Clicked on Save as.. but in the pulldown menu there is only 1 listed, .gdb file there isnt .gpx listed
I allready have updated to the latest and no change. Really got me stumped.

Once I have them compiled without any problems, I’ll let everyone know. I’d hate to lose an email and have to start over from scratch.I’m might not get a chance to compile the files until after Christmas. I need to start my Christmas shopping one of these days
