Note that Batavia is a bit screwy … Cty A and School Dr. are both east-west roads about a half mile apart, so I plotted a spot half way between them on the main north-south road (Hwy 28).
I just looked at my Wisconsin Atlas & Gazetteer…Cnty A and Hwy 28 are the same road at the point you’re looking for. At the intersection w/ School Dr the co-ords are:
N 43 35.658
W 088 03.023
Hope that helps12/21/2004 at 6:01 am #1740184quote:

Don’t know if you still need them, but the co-ords for Cnty V and E/W Harmony Dr are:
N 43 22.339
W 89 32.35912/21/2004 at 11:54 am #1740185I won’t have Dane done until tonight so, if someome wants to do the rest of it during the day today you should start on McFarland… Otherwise, I’ll finish it tonight after work..

Okay…I’ll get it taken care of.
12/21/2004 at 3:21 pm #1740187Dane County finished and happily on its way to Brian.
12/21/2004 at 4:00 pm #1740188Wow, great work folks. I put out the call for help and you really pulled through.
There were a total of 356 intersections we needed coordinates for. I think about 8 people volunteered their time to help out. It took about 70 hours to finish the project from the time I made my initial posting. That’s average of 5.08 waypoints located per hour.
With the holidays upon us, it’s going to take me a few days to crunch all the data. I still need start my shopping . Please save your data for a while in case I have an ID 10 T error and loose something.
Thanks again for all the help !!

GROUSETALES … I don’t see them as being the same in my software, but Linus’ observation is logical, since otherwise Hwy A would just come to an end otherwise. Make the change indicated above to the Sheboygan file I sent you, under the waypoint name of Batavia. Thanks for the correct Linus; see it was a bad day yesterday, not the s-word.

ok. now i think i figured it out doing some trial and error….at first i was just clicking save as and I get the .gdb (Garmin Data Base). but If I click on export then I can save it as a .mps file and then transfer it to babel… alot of bouncing around, but it worked.
I solved this mystery of GDB vs. MPS files … I’m still running on version 5.4 of Mapsource, which uses the MPS file format, which is supported by babel. In Garmin’s upgrade 6.1 (which I’ve not installed) they switch to a GDB file format, which unfortunatly babel doesn’t support. However this newer version of Mapsource does allow you to export to the old MPS format, so that babel can handle it. For me, I’m going to wait for them to add a LOC file export, then I’ll upgrade.

Thinking outside the box…. well done!
12/21/2004 at 11:30 pm #1740192One thing I’m wondering if anyone else noticed how far short Garmin’s Mapsource TOPO software falls in naming the smaller incidental roads… I found myself going back to Streets and Trips to find these roads… I’m running Mapsource 6.5.0 (beta).
I’m assuming most of the rest of you experienced the same.. If not, I’ve got a problem. As far as I know, this doesn’t need to be unlocked right? So, if I’ve got the full banana running here, I don’t think it’s all that!!
Your thoughts? Opinions?

12/22/2004 at 12:06 am #1740193I also used Mapsource version 6.5 beta. I found many problems with streets mislabled or unlabled.
I supplemented my search with National Geographic Topo, ExpertGPS, and http://www.mapquest.com. Mapquest was pretty good for finding cities not mentioned in MapSource. I was able to find all the locations in one place or another. I also think the National Weather Service may have been going off some bad data. Last year the NWS had coordinates listed for all the locations. They used some obscure coordinate system an they coords were WAY OFF. They were so bad they pulled them off their webpage.
