Cheezehead, if someone from central Wisconsin can pick it up for you and we can make a hand-off, I’ll see that you get it… sometime. NO CHARGE!
I’ll even go somewhere south to pick it up, if necessary. We’ll be in the Milwaukee area right after the campout.
05/03/2010 at 1:31 pm #1928233cheez, if you want to order one, I’ll pick it up and mail it out to you myself if that would help you out.
05/03/2010 at 3:03 pm #1928234Thanks for the offers to help, but I guess they don’t wan’t my money as it seems that I can’t get an answer from a BOD member. I guess they just don’t care.
05/03/2010 at 4:13 pm #1928235It looks like those who can’t attend the CampOut have people who are willing to make sure they get their shirts. Please keep in mind that we are only nine people, all of us with families, full-time jobs and the various life adventures and trials that sometimes get in the way.
We aren’t in a position to store these things or set up mailing and shipping them. That’s why the other store is CafePress. If you want a shirt, by all means order it, and there will be someone who will help make sure any who can’t attend can still get theirs. I personally am getting one to a local cacher, and the “pony express” system Pat suggests can work, too. We’re always glad to see the membership step forward to help out, as Pat and others have offered here. This is a social organization, and these kinds of situations actually help in small ways to promote that “social” aspect.

A little harsh, wouldn’t you say? I can’t speak for other BOD members, but I have been out of town for the entire weekend and just saw your posts from yesterday. Sorry, but if you expect immediate 24/7 response to forum posts, you will continue to be disappointed.
There have been a couple of offers to make sure you get a shirt if you want one. If you’re interested, I’m sure something can be worked out.
05/03/2010 at 5:41 pm #1928237If I am reading correctly, it sounds like sandlanders will be picking up your sweatshirt for you .. great! I will make a note of that.
Speaking for myself here, sorry I really do not have the time to also handle mailing things out to people .. it is not that I do not care, it is being realistic about my time and people’s expectations.
I am working now to get the shirt order together and placed so we have them in time. I do get each and every order, each and every paypal payment .. you know, that all takes time before events for me personally to handle .. I agreed to take that on .. but not mailing.
05/03/2010 at 5:54 pm #1928238We won’t be at the campout event, but if nobody from around here can pick it up there and eventually get it to us, we will be able to pick up the shirt somewhere in the Waukesha area on Monday morning (5/17).

No I don’t think so.
The original post about the shirt was made on April 30. 1:31pm
Orders need to be by May 3rd, 11:59. Sure heck of a lot of time to place an order. I left town at Noon on Friday and saw the post @ 6 on Sunday.
ONE would THINK just maybe, mailing out shirts would be an option to those who can’t make the event. Post how much it will cost to send. When you handing out shirts at the event, when ya come across my name , ya slip it in a big envelope and send it off.I guess it doesn’t matter anyways since I’m in the membership minority and you will be way too busy pass out shirts the throngs of majority WGA members who will be attending this event.
So please disregard my posts. I sure I can find something else to spend my $30 on.

So you missed the Newsletter announcement then? This thread was not the “original post”.
Here is the text from the newsletter you should have received via email around the middle of April.

If you would like to buy 2010 WGA Geo-Campout shirts, they are currently available in the WGA Store. T-shirts are available from $10, crew sweatshirts from $15, and hoodie sweatshirts from $22.
New this year, the WGA is also offering a limited number of Groundspeak items that can be ordered now and picked up at the campout. Some of the Groundspeak items available include cache containers, travel bug tags (at the reduced price of $4.25), and Signal the Frog items.
Profits from the sale of the shirts and Groundspeak items will be used to defray the cost of putting on this and future WGA events.

As several other board members have already noted, if you want a shirt, make arrangements. If you dont want one, that is fine too.
thanks

Ummmm…… When was the design for the shirt chosen????
Or was I to buy a shirt unseen?05/03/2010 at 8:16 pm #1928243I was later in getting the announcement out than I’d hoped to be. Please understand…..in the past month, I have had a sudden and abrupt job change, loss of a vehicle requiring all kinds of arranging to get us both to work, childcare of my 8 month old grandson after a full week of teaching, and other things beyond these I don’t wish to share.
It happens. I understand that there are those who don’t want to buy without knowing what it will look like, and I’m sorry for all of this. Again…we are only nine people, and people means….”human.” We make mistakes.
I really didn’t think I needed to explain myself to appease members, but there it is. I know others on the Board have also had things going on that sometimes interfere with our duties. We do our best to help each other out. In fact, with the many life issues that have happened to me after being elected, I have suggested to the rest of the Board that maybe I’d better resign. They have all said….we’re human. It’s okay.
Again, I’m sorry if we can’t be run like a business, but….we aren’t a business. Stuff happens. How many times do we need to say we’re sorry? Order a shirt or don’t order a shirt. We’ll find ways to get them to those who can’t come to the CampOut.
05/03/2010 at 10:16 pm #1928244Btw, I’ve purchased several geocaching and non-geocaching event t-shirts in my life, sight unseen. Color unseen. Especially if it’s for a good cause.
Plenty of stores sell great t-shirts with great designs and great prices. Not many of those stores support non-profit groups that I choose to support. I see it as a win-win, even if the shirt ends up being lime green 😉
It’s a t-shirt sale for those attending the event. It’s never been advertised as anything else. If anyone is interested in getting one and is not attending, I’m sure it would be possible to get one without any debate on the forums or calling out the board.

Ya I relize that being on the BOD is a thanksless job. So IT DOES come down to attending to get a shirt. Well, I’m not going to travel 6 hrs for a shirt, cuz like ALL the MEMBERS of the BOD, I also have a job and family obligations. I’ve been PM’ed say I should run for the BOD next year. Well, I would but since I can’t make the event cuz they are 4-6 hrs away, and BOD MEMBERS HAVE TO ATTEND WGA EVENTS, I can’t run. So, what it all comes down to is that this campout IS for the SE WI WGA members. NOT the WHOLE WGA MEMBERSHIP. THE WGA is looking to make money, you would think that selling shirts and and adding postage would be a way to do it.
I wanted something that looks kinda neat. I sorry, the stuff on Cafe press are not neat, and won’t spend my money on something I don’t like.Shane would you by a WI coin with out seeing it first?.
This event is held for the Majority, how much of the Majority is planning on attending?
Cuz I can’t attent the event I thought I’d try to support the WGA and the Campout buy bying a shirt. My bad. It was not my intention to call out any particular BOD member, I was just pointing out facts. I just hope there is a wrap up meeting and it will be discussed on how to try to make thing better for all WGA members, cuz it seems that the only way I can get a response to anything is when I start ranting. And I don’t like ranting cuz I makes me look like a big JACKASS. I just ask that the BOD look the whole picture and not the SE Corner.

Well, I don’t have a cash tree in my back yard and my wife doesn’t like it when I spend on geocaching stuff. So I have to be a little frugle when I do and I would have gotten chewed out for buying the hoodie anyhow.
