On this last day of the year, with the leading team currently caching in Arizona and the next closest player nearly 2,400 points back 😯 😯 8O, I think it’s pretty safe to call it for 2010.
As if there were ever any doubt, the Lonely Cache Game has crowned a new king—and queen! Starting off the year on a tear of 733 points in January on 62 finds, HuffinPuffin2 proceeded to smash records, including:
-Greatest number of monthly points (781.5)
-Greatest single-season point total (3842),
-The all-time record for lonely caches found, at 367 and counting.Looking at the all-time leader board is equally remarkable. HP2 did in a mere 15 months what it had taken us veterans three years to accomplish. It’s also worth noting that they did it the hard way, with nearly 97% of their LCG reports coming from new finds (just 14 revisits 8O); and without having the benefit of “maintenance points” available to players in years past.
While they could have easily blown by the all-time cumulative points total in 2010, they took their foot off the gas pedal in December to show a little mercy 😉 ….but I have a feeling January, with a fresh list, will be a busy month… 😀
On the Left Side of the Road...12/31/2010 at 5:11 pm #1941133I’m amazed and tip my hat to this great team. They’re great people in person, that write fantastic logs, and appear to have a great time doing it. I can honestly say, “I’m jealous.” It’s apparent they have a great relationship and have an enormous passion for the sport.
12/31/2010 at 8:00 pm #1941134Yes, the HP2 team found out how much fun the LCG is! Congrats! 😀
Plenty of room for more cachers to join the party!
By the way… will there be a LCG Party this year?
12/31/2010 at 11:38 pm #1941135I bow before the amazingness of all the top players, and I’m a little surprised that my 11 points 😳 for the year didn’t have me in dead last. Of course now that I’ve tried it, 2011 will hopefully include a lot more LCG caches.
12/31/2010 at 11:55 pm #1941136I still have to log my 700 lcg’s I found this week…so don’t get too excited about that leader position 😛
Congrats hp2’s!
01/01/2011 at 1:40 am #1941137Contrats to the winners. Now when we going to have the party?
01/01/2011 at 10:48 pm #1941138Way to go HP2! Amazing persistance you have I thought my 200 point months were exhausting I can’t even imagine 700+
I feel like a winner because I was ahead of you 2 months! not many can say they out scored HP2.
again congratulations
01/02/2011 at 12:53 am #1941139Yes, there is something uniquely special about the lonely cache game. The bug can bite hard, and it couldn’t have happened to a better team. Hats off to Andy and Linda for all the new plateaus they showed us! 8)

If you want, we could make this a WGA event. We could probably get the board to kick in some door prizes.
