Okey dokey. Got my *new* (to me) Palm IIIxe in the mail today. I’m looking at the back of my ‘puter and I do not have a serial port to attach the HotSync cradle to. I do have a USB port on the front of my ‘puter that the digital camera cable is currently attached to. I’m pretty sure, without even looking yet, that I can get an adapter to be able to hook up this serial port into a USB slot.
Here’s my question for the experienced Palm users – do you know if I can just plug and unplug the cradle and the digital camera cable as needed to this front port? Or do I have to have the Palm cradle always attached to another spot permanently? (Well, not *super glue* permanent, but you know what I mean. I think the word is *dedicated*.)
Might be a silly, simple question, but I’m the kind of gal that is happy the printer only goes one place and that my computer has a little *printer* picture there too, lol. So all these various ports are sorta confusing to me.
~Mama Fishcacher, who is already having fun with the Graffiti writing part of the Palm, when all I plan on doing with it is geocache, lolol.
I plug into and unplug from my USB ports all the time, between a camera, the Palm, an MP3 player, gamepad and joystick, all with no trouble. So far… If you’re hesitant to do that, you might want to try a USB hub which will expand the number of ports available.
