I’m glad I get to be the first to congratulate the Beadlake Crew for winning Cache of the Year for their cache Gandy Dancer Gordon Sumner!
It was a hard fought race right to the end. I hope I can get up to try your cache this summer.
02/02/2007 at 9:21 pm #1769608The COTY results have not been officially certified yet. It might end up being a tie or Match Head might be declared the winner once the Board decides what the definition of a “legitimate” vote is.
Remember scores of people down in Florida hand counting “hanging chads”… that’s where we are at with this now. 🙄 The results of COTY depend upon whether a small number of votes are counted or not. Please bear with us as this gets sorted out.
Note that this delay is a direct result of some less than above board voting by some WGA members in this election (as was reported in another topic), but I’ll save that rant for another day…
02/02/2007 at 9:27 pm #1769609We would not be disappointed if we had to share COTY with a worthy cache like Match Head. We just got home and have no idea what is going on, but everyone keep on caching and have fun!

any idea when the results will be certified?
I hope all the votes were on the up-and-up as well
an honer such as COTY means nothing if it wasnt earned fair and squareIMHO
02/02/2007 at 10:19 pm #1769611The board has been and will be discussing and making a decision very shortly. This has certainly been a learning experience for all involved. We are fortunate to have gotten the bugs out in the COTY voting so that the BoD Elections will continue to run as smoothly as is being reported to the board.
Look for an announcement this weekend or early next week regarding COTY, I’m sure each cache is truly deserving.
(PS I editted the topic title to reflect the current state of the COTY contest. I didn’t want it to look like an announcement of any sort and cause any further confusion.)
02/02/2007 at 10:42 pm #1769612Just so everyone knows, BeadeLake Crew had nothing to do with the votes in question. We were notified by email what had happened. We want this to be fair. TyeDye has been very cool about this whole deal. We both just want a fair vote!!!!!
02/02/2007 at 10:50 pm #1769613You are correct.
This really comes down to only a few questionable votes. Not to worry, discussions are commencing and decisions are forthcoming. 😀
02/03/2007 at 12:31 am #1769614We would also be happy to share the honor with the Beadlake Crew. It’s obvious no matter what happened that they were not invloved and more importantly that there were a lot of folks who loiked both caches.
02/05/2007 at 3:06 pm #1769615any news yet?
02/05/2007 at 11:10 pm #1769616I wish…
The board is really struggling here. There is so much ambiguity as to what was a legitimate vote and what was not. There is a motion on the table so some sort of a vote will be forthcoming, hopefully soon.
Thanks for your patience.
02/06/2007 at 1:23 am #1769617This has me curious about the BOD voting. Is each computer allowed 1 vote, each user name allowed 1 vote, each family allowed 1 vote or…..?
02/06/2007 at 1:35 am #1769618Welcome to the wonderful world of Internet voting…..

Each registered user is allowed 6 votes for this BOD election.

02/06/2007 at 2:35 am #1769620So if I had 5 user names, I could cast 30 votes? Sorry to throw a monkey wrench into the works.
