So if I had 5 user names, I could cast 30 votes? Sorry to throw a monkey wrench into the works.
That is the monkey wrench in the works… Multiple user names per user.
Certainly an argument for charging a nominal fee (say $1 or $2) for membership. The problem is that people who would be willing to cheat on a board election would probably be willing to pay the extra money.
02/06/2007 at 3:18 pm #1769623thanks for the information…everyone..
02/06/2007 at 9:16 pm #1769624IMO – It should be one username per ‘geocache name’.
Jim and I cache under “CinemaBoxers” – so we both use the same name on the forums. I see no need to have multiple ID’s registered because we are two different people. Everyone knows us as the CinemaBoxers – not CinemaPaula, or CinemaJim.
Now.. the only exception is kids – Id hate to see people who have caching kids register them on a forum for the sake of bumping up votes.
But, overall.. I dont think Jim and I deserve two votes. We cache under one name.
Oh well.. this will be a tough one to sort out. I dont envy the board.
Oh, forgot to add – I wouldnt be opposed to a few dollar fee to have membership rights – and I’m out of state. Perhaps a ‘associate membership’ as compared to a ‘full membership’ for those out of state who would like to participate in non-member votes?
02/06/2007 at 10:27 pm #1769625Though, my wife would like to cast a vote in the BoD Elections (not sure who she’s voting for 😆 )…
But she doesn’t log geocaches under a separate account.
Also, the bylaws state that:
@WGA Bylaws wrote:An active member shall be defined as an individual at least sixteen (16) years of age who registers with the WGA annually and who has a residence in the state of Wisconsin.
emphasis added
The select few who are watching the BoD elections are keeping a very close eye on everything and at this point there are no reported problems nor do I foresee any.

Exactly what I had posted in the BoD Forums earlier. It wouldn’t solve all the problems but it wouldn’t hurt any either. As you can imagine there is plenty of talk about potential fixes. This will not be a problem in the future…
02/11/2007 at 12:06 am #1769627Congrats to TyeDye on cache of the year. We are happy with the results as long as it was fair. We hope some of you can make it up to the St. Croix Falls area and check out Gandy Dancer — Gordon Sumner, it is part of a series of 12 caches with alot of variety.

I would be happy if you could send some information about nearby campgrounds to me…
thanks
02/13/2007 at 6:48 pm #1769635Matchhead was/is a very challenging cache..and the winds and the weather can play a significant role in the difficulty level
congrats Jay
02/14/2007 at 1:53 am #1769636In case they haven’t sent it yet, Interstate State park, Wisconsin’s oldest state park, is right in St Croix Falls and the trail from the park will take you to the trailhead of the Gandy! From there, you can find all of Beadelake crews caches on the Gandy (but plan a day of ridding! We didn’t and came up short on those on the Nort’ end).
ISP has 85 sites, none with electric. Two loops for camping. There’s the more “RV type” north loop that’s pretty open but it’s also along the river. Then there’s the South loop that’s really rustic. It’s our favorite, all six of us really enjoy camping down there. Also, the south loop has the easiest access to alot of the great hiking trails in the park with one exception and that’s The Pot holes trail. This one’s on top of one of the bluffs along the St Croix river and is peppered with pot holes. Do take note of your location on this trail, though! There are ALOT of people rock climbing on those bluffs in season so you’ll want to keep an eye out for their lines!
