do you count and post your own caches as finds. i have not but if everyone does then maybe i will. whats your opinion?
04/13/2012 at 8:00 pm #1959330Do what you want, they’re your stats.
On the Left Side of the Road...04/13/2012 at 8:00 pm #1959331um…no? I have smilies on caches that I own, but I adopted them after I found them.
04/13/2012 at 8:11 pm #1959332Just Events and the CITO that we have hosted, for an accurate count.
But not a physical cache, unless it is one I have adopted out.
I don’t quite see the point of logging your own caches. Were they a tough hide for yourself? And if your going to log your own caches, you’ll need to log the DNFs on your own caches, too! 😳
04/13/2012 at 8:34 pm #1959333It appears that it does happen, but we would not do that.
04/13/2012 at 9:41 pm #1959334I have had trouble finding a few of our hides when we went to do maintenance. It took a while to find some of them and we were close to having to log a dnf, but would never log a find on one of our own.
04/13/2012 at 10:47 pm #1959335I would never log my own cache as a find. I don’t need a smiley that bad.
04/14/2012 at 1:42 am #1959336For the most part I wouldn’t log my own, I think that seems silly. But I will confess that I’ve been tempted to log my challenge cache because I have met that challenge, but again, I just can’t quite get myself to actually do it.

04/14/2012 at 1:58 am #1959337thats how i think too. as you can tell by the the number of caches i have found and how long ive been caching i dont do it for the numbers.
04/16/2012 at 4:47 pm #1959338Everyone plays a little different. I personally do not log my own that I originally submitted as a cache.
I have logged as found caches that I ended up later adopting, but I found them first before I owned them.
04/16/2012 at 9:06 pm #1959339The only way I could see someone doing that would be this: I am the hider in the family, and my other family members are under my account. IF they would go out and find it, I guess maybe then?
Personally, I don’t do this – but have seen the above scenerio mentioned.
04/16/2012 at 11:03 pm #1959340I can see people mistakenly logging their caches as a find instead of a note, I’ve caught myself when dropping trackables.
04/16/2012 at 11:18 pm #1959341When I moved away from Maryland and others adopted my caches, I had a thought about logging them, but decided that was not what I was about as a cacher. I’m trying to find something when I don’t know where it is.
One of those caches has been moved by the adopter, so next time I have a chance – I’m going for it! 😀

I’ve been guilty of this on occasion as well.
