Has anyone ever been to the east end of Oakwood road in Oak Creek? When you get to the end of the road, there’s a bunch of dirt mounds and stuff to keep cars out. I usually park near one of those or in the parking lot for the Spanish TV station a block west.

I know that as you go down that road, there’s a county park sign on the north end, but it doesn’t show up on any of the maps, and I can’t for the life of me remember the name it had.

I used to go there all the time a few years ago, and was there two summers ago with my wife. I know that the bluff areas are officially off-limits but…

    Anyways, my questions are two:

    1. Is that an active county park? If not, what is it?

    2. If it were an active county park, and I decided to place a cache there, would there be any problem with telling people about the existance of a really neat bluff lookout nearby? (I think the land is owned by the gov’mt or WE, but there’s always people out hiking there…)

    What cha’all think?

    Here’s a terraserver map of the area: http://terraserver.microsoft.com/addressimage.aspx?t=1&s=11&lon=-87.8396244415987&lat=42.8570546228574&alon=-87.86515858&alat=42.85705331&w=1&ref=A%7cE+Oakwood+Rd%2c+Oak+Creek%2c+W I+53154

      Very Interesting….
But if you cannot identify the property manager/owner I would think that it would not be worth the risks you would be taking to place a cache here. You had best get permission from a reliable source.

I am very familiar with that area since I grew up around there. That Park is listed as Bender park and acces from oakwood road is currently closed. I am waitting to see what they do with that area. They have proposed a marina and a golf course but nothing is finalized as far as I know. The only part that is open is from Ryan road going down to the boat lauch. I was thinking of putting a cache back there myself but I am waiting to see what they propose with the park.

Thanks for remembering the name – that’s bender park… It shows up on the milwaukee county parks web page… Perhaps I’ll take a drive over there and see if it’s accessable, and if it is, I’ll call the county parks dept and find out if it’s open to the public or not..
