I will be doing a talk – “Introduction to Geocaching” at 1pm and 3pm at the Visitors Center. 😀 Wish me Luck!
The bus rides are very nice as there are guides which let you know what sorts of wildlife you are seeing. The late afternoon ones are the best as you can see the sandhill cranes and geese coming in from the surrounding countryside. They make a lot of noise!
I have wanted to go up there for quite some time, but I think I’ll have to wait a bit longer. I hear there is a really cool cache somewhere out there, too.
Sounds like a fun event. Wish we were a little closer. After all the driving I’ve done in the last week or two, I have no desire to get in a car for awhile!
I realize that it’s too far a trek for most of you. That’s why I only posted this in the regional forum (as well as to show that I’m doing my part locally to promote geocaching – perhaps we can get another few cachers up this way). Crex Meadows has ~100,000 visitors yearly but most of these are from the Twin Cities (or locals like myself).
The local paper – Burnett County Sentinel, wrote an article after a reporter attended one of my sessions. The article was okay but had a nice picture of my daughter showing how to find a demo cache placed for the talk. Unfortunately, there is not a link to post for non-locals to see. An area geocacher, Team CandyCane from Pine City, MN came over to hear the talk.
