Looks like she was out swamping it, getting Seldom’s Sloppy Seconds for 1000, though I could be confused, because she *also* got that evil one up the trail, affectionately known as “S4″…AND another swamper up there as well!
Have you thawed out yet? Congratulations!
12/08/2008 at 1:11 am #1898784Way to Go Lisa, and Family!!!!
Keep on having Fun!!!
12/08/2008 at 1:20 am #1898785Congratulation Lisa!, and thanks for thinking of me and choosing one of the most difficult ones around as your 1K find. That “other” one might be sinister to solve, but as Lisa can attest, the S4 she choose as her milestone makes the 2-minute trek to the sinister one look like a walk in the park.
I had a ton of fun today despite both of us going through the ice and donning concrete pants for much of the journey. It was surely an adventure and one neither of us will forget, both for the trek and for the shenanigans 😉 And no, 5/5 are not just for the boys, this Girls’ got heart!!!!

The 4S caches are on the “winter list” of ours and another 5-star crazed cacher here, and the benefit of these is that at least we don’t need an ice drill.
However, even though these two are “available in winter,” it looks like that availability lessens considerably with every inch of snow…correct??? 😯
On the Left Side of the Road...12/09/2008 at 2:39 am #1898794Hey, very cool, another 1K milestone. Way to go.

The SSSS’s. Yes, no matter how cold and frozen the waterway the ice in the marsh will be rotten and the potential is always there to break through. ALL of us who have ventured out in frozen conditions have found ourselves ankle, waist and even chest high in frigid and smelly swamp water.
Best advice is a pair of waders, no matter what season. Winter does afford you the opportunity to get closer to these caches with fewer incidents than does summer. That’s not to say it’s a breeze as they range in treachery depending on approach and luck. Both will be snow covered and both may be difficult to spot under large amounts of snow – but I think they are both findable with less than a foot of accumulation. I would also STRONGLY suggest not going after either of them SOLO. And, be sure to have a full charge on your cell phone just in case you need to call the Medivac.
