Where to start, since I heard my name made it to the ballot. A little late but I made it here. We have been geocaching back since 2009 and it didn’t take us long to get hooked. At first it was one here and there, and then as the number grew so did the need for more. More terrain, more difficulty, and the competition for more, more, more. It took us a while to actually attend any events and realize what the WGA was about but that all ended when we tried to place our first cache and Wis Kid pointed us here. He became a great mentor and friend. He accompanied me with many of our friends on one of our all-time favorite finds “Out of Site”, which was an epic adventure. From there we were hooked and eventually started our own annual CITO event. That will probably be the only type of event we host because we really enjoy giving back to the geocachers that give back. A great group has been looking forward to the event yearly now. Our numbers have slowed down because of select sports with our kids. However, we have learned geocaching isn’t just about finding more, it’s about the journey. Our vacations are planned around geocaches, as it has taken us to many beautiful WI state parks and other incredible locations.
After I learned I was nominated it took me a while to decide if I was going to run or not, decisions, decisions. However, being a CAD designer full time, a head baseball coach for a select team, and wanting to give my kids every moment of my time that I can, I had to see if I would be able to give back to geocaching like it has given back to us. Therefore here I am. I feel if I can plan successful CITO events and get the positive feedback then it is enough incentive. My family is behind me just the same. If I am elected, I will be happy to help and lead the many great minds that are part of the geocaching community. From the insane geocaching races, to the 6 star puzzle creators. (6 is not a typo)
I have filled many roles from a firefighter/emt, to a deputy grand knight for the Knight of Columbus and the one I enjoy the most is being there for the young generations helping teach and guide. Giving back in anyway is something I enjoy, so why not combine it with this addicting tupperware searching hobby!
