The Picnic Committee has been working on selecting a venue and a date for our annual picnic this fall, and after a lot of looking at options, we have decided that it might be a good idea to solicit the input of our fine members.

Please review the choices in the survey, and vote for your favored dates, and post a rationale, if you want to. While the vote is advisory only, we are interested in what the membership thinks and what works best for the majority of folks. This poll will close in 7 days.

Hopefully, we will be announcing a date and location in the very near future.

I’m going for the latest date only because I’l hoping it will be cooler out. 😉

I voted for 8/25, but my only “real suggestion” is to NOT have it 8/18 … I’m not available then, but I’m aware of about 4 or 5 new caching families we got started over the past year that would love to come, but are not available 8/18 for the same reason I’m not. So you’ve got like 5 “Not 8/18” votes that you can’t see 😯 !

I chose to have it in August. If we push later into September, I will have to call off the Way Up Nord Fall Cache n Bash Campout at my Camp Catch-a-cache. I put that together by myself and that’s around 40+ temps all over the Peshtigo River area.

      An FYI –

Labor day weekend is August 31-Sept. 3, Grandparent’s day is September 9th (Sunday), if these dates make a difference to anyone. I also would NOT be able to attend on August 18th. 😀

❓ Why are you calling it the Fall WGA picnic when all the dates except for one are considered “summer” and not “fall?”

The campout is/was during the school year, it would be nice if this one was held in the “summer.” Tami

Say that five times fast! 😕 😆

Good point … since this is a family activity, it would be nice to avoid “school season”.

Yes avoiding school would be nice, but it is only single day event correct?

Where and how long have they been in the past?

It is only a single day for those people lucky enough to be within reasonable single-day driving distance.

        Past picnics:
2001: Pike Lake State Park – Not a WGA event – SE Wisconsin Picnic & Hunt – hosted by some “oldtimers” 🙂 (kbraband, GrouseTales, jvechinski, YawningDog)
        2002: Kettle Moraine Lapham Peak
        2003: Devil’s Lake State Park
2004: Mackenzie Environmental Education Center – Poynette
2005: Kettle Moraine North – Greenbush
        2006: Kettle Moraine South

Any date EXCEPT Sept 15th would work for me.

        #1874759

Any preliminary thoughts for location this year? I’m just curious.

        #1874760

The picnic committee is hard at work at finding a suitable location.

(If you have any suggestions besides the state parks, we’d love to hear them.)

        #1874761

How many people show up for a picnic? There are a couple county parks in Waukesha that are very nice with pavilions, volleyball pits, swim ponds and some type of bathrooms.

I should have asked you to PM your suggestions to a board member instead of posting them here. Sorry.
