So what about cachers just starting the challenge? I made Lancelot promise to buy me a Delorme as soon as damned immigration lets me back into the states to come home. I’m sure Walmart will be carrying the 2008 edition. I’ve been really excited to get started on it.
05/04/2008 at 3:00 pm #1888809Say What?? 😯 😯 They’re starting to let then Canucks back in??? The U.S. of A. is goin’ to hell I tell ya! 😛 😆 The 2008 is a little different then the old ones. Somewhere there is thread all about it.
05/06/2008 at 1:23 pm #1888810So you mean we have to hunt down an older version then? May be okay for this year, but could become an increasing problem in years to come.
Problem is they aren’t letting me cross BECAUSE I’m a white, anglo saxon with a husband in the states. Been coming and going happily for over a year, but suddenly they won’t let me back. I’m thinking of becoming another nationality. In Canada they let anyone from Pakistan and China in. What are the accepted races for coming into the states so I can dye my skin and change my name to accomodate them?
05/06/2008 at 1:41 pm #1888811Someone posted that the old ones are still available at Walmart. The one we’re using is REALLY old, like 1983. Hopefully we won’t be needing it much longer, though! 😆
Sorry about the immigration issues. I thought being married to a US citizen was enough. I was trying to sell a lovely young storyteller from Hungary on my son to keep her here in the states after June! LOL
05/06/2008 at 2:21 pm #1888812I had just recieved mine for Christmas and we picked it up at Barnes and Noble. It was the ninth edition. in the 10th edition the map scales have changed and no longer match the previous editions. Not that you couldn’t use the newer one.
just like INATNs, the Delorme Challenge cache page has a link that you can download your finds to and it will show you the pages you have completed (based on the ninth edition). So you don’t even really need to purchase the book, but it does help get you there.

05/06/2008 at 10:55 pm #1888813I’ve seen the Delorme Challenge referenced from time to time. What is this creature?
05/06/2008 at 11:10 pm #1888814The challenge as I understand it is to complete one cache find on every page of the Delorme atlas of the state.
I found nothing about it on the Delorme site. Where should I be looking?
05/06/2008 at 11:27 pm #1888815Go to the state/county stats on the main menu (left side of this page). Then click on your name. Then look around for the Delorme challenge and click.

This makes it even more fun. So, I read everything through, used the utility and uploaded my gpx file to it to find out how we’re doing thus far. Was pleased to see we have 8 pages completed, but not sure why it said those stats belong to username Lone Gunman instead of L & L. Very odd indeed.
06/09/2008 at 1:58 am #1888818You got my stats? so you’re the one who’s been following me……

Just fly to Mexico, and then cross the border into the USA there. If anyone stops you, tell them you are looking for work and your in. 🙄 😀
