I have made two trips out to Browntown to try and find the Devil’s Tea Table. My first try was in the dark and I knew when I arrived at “the rock” it would be very hard to find the cache. I did a quick search and gave up.
Monday, I made the walk again and spent over an hour searching the entire area before finally giving up. This is the last cache I need to complete the Wzbt03 Southern Six Pack so I really wanted to find it. Knowing I would have to make the three hour round trip back to Browntown also added to my desire to record a find.
I have persuaded Wzbt03 to escort me to the cache and help me find it. There are also some areas on the rock I was just too chicken to go to without someone there to drag my bloody corpse out once I fell.
We are planning on being in the parking lot on Mill Street where the multi purpose trail crosses on Sunday at 9:00am. If anyone would like to join us, you are more than welcome to come along.
I would not suggest bringing any small children along for the hike. I took a route in that was dry but consisted of a half mile of bushwacking. On the way back, I took a 200 yard slosh through hiking boot deep swamp to an easy hard packed trail.
I need all the help I can get so I hope a good sized group shows up to share in the find. If you ever wanted to find this one, this would be a good opportunity. If you would like to come, please email me, post a response here or just show up.

I tried three times before I got this one.
This is one of my favorite traditional hides.06/09/2004 at 3:17 am #1750321I will second that this is a great traditional hide. It’s all about location, Good luck on your expedition, I will be out of town or I would go with.
06/09/2004 at 12:45 pm #1750322I’ve tried twice so far. So if I can make to this next expedition, I certainly will!
06/10/2004 at 10:11 pm #1750323Count me in! Are there plans in the works for finishing off with the “Southern Six Pack” cache? I may have the prerequisites done by then also.
Bob06/13/2004 at 11:21 pm #1750324The adventure went very well today.
I vaguely remember Cashing Out saying lookout for that hole when I went in up to mid thigh in the water.
The walk to the cache consisted of walking through 3 inches of water in a field with grasses up to my chin. There is no path now that the area is so wet and the 4 wheelers are avoiding it.
Hordes of mosquitos surrounded us the whole time and copious amounts of DEET kept them at bay.
As we walked on Cachew said – look out for that hole and I walked right into that one too.
Less talking and more listening later we arrived at Devil Tea Table.
That devious RPaske had the trio of Geotrippers, Cashing Out and Cashew searching in every nook and cranny. Never tell Cashing Out to look in the hardest places as he ended up in areas not intended for humans but more for mountain goats. I sat back and watched as eventually Cachew held up the ammo case.
Another tough cache found.
Too bad more people did not make it over for this one – a great adventure that I will always remember.06/14/2004 at 1:39 am #1750325Way to go you guys!!! I was in Bloomington, Il all weekend w/ the rest of the Co.
