Owning up to a mistake, and apologizing, is a sign of maturity, whether it be geocaching or life in general. You’ve atoned for your actions! How your apology is received is up to the rest of the cachers. If I were you, I would attend as many future events as possible. They can then put a name with a smile, and not just a face!

You might want to reconsider thye picnic. I think you’ll find most there would be quite forgiving and you’ll learn a lot more there in one day meeting other geocachers than you will in a year going on by yourself.

You are welcome to come to the picnic, it would be good to see you there!

Come and have a good time. Nobody will hold this against you. We may let you search for the temp caches at the end of the day. The temps you can pick-up and bring back (when the day is over). Those who hid the caches will be thankful. 🙂 Just kiddin’ around.

DOUBLE POST .. not sure ube66 is reading the other forum at this point .. sorry in advance, I wanted them to see this ..

        Hello ube66

TamCo is a friend of mine and she gave me further information regarding your decision to pull the cache .. the tree trimming in the area really might have meant the cache would have been muggled .. and since she does not live in the immediate area, it would have been until this weekend before she could get there to move it.

You are most welcome to come to the WGA picnic .. if you want to bring the cache with you, I can get it back to TamCo too. She has to work and will not be attending.

        Come and say hello!

Hmmm I thought the word used was unhappy. And I think it was more in the context that the cache was removed without contacting the owner. After all a cache does belong to the hider, it should be up to them if they want to deal with the issues involving it. The best thing you can do any time you have a questions about a cache is contact the owner (i.e. broken lid, now an ant farm, found it out of place)

Since your putting it back, I would think its a done deal. After all everyone makes mistakes and your fixing yours.

If you do it again, we may have to stuff you in an ammo box. And just remember cachers always know the best places to hide a body. Just kidding 😆

Regarding the picnic, I would go. The cachers I know wont hold this against you. You’ll learn a lot going out with other cachers. And it will be a while before the picnic is this close Milwaukee again. I wish I was going.

Isn’t that called “The Jimmy Hoffa Cache”.

        #1895858

Your fixing it. So don’t worry. Were a forgiving bunch. Right after the public flogging.

Just kidding. Go to the picnic if you want to I am sure after the folks meet you all will be ok.

good for you for stopping by. I hope to see you at the event….now if I could only get that guy who was screaming obscenities at me today (while I was at Lapham Peak doing cache checks) to pop on here and apologize to me….I don’t think I will hold my breath though.

        #1895860

I wouldn’t worry about anyone at the picnic. You made a mistake, admitted such and apologized for it. And publicly (?) at that, and now everybody knows who you are (by caching name ). You earned my respect. Amazing how many people would’ve kept their mouths shut and just hoped that things would be forgotten.
I would reconsider not going. You will miss out on meeting a lot of wonderful people. Besides, most of those in attendance are not regulars in here anyway and wouldn’t know what happened.

You’ve fixed the problem AND apologized for it. Good enough for me, I’d say you should definitely come to the picnic. That way, we can all share all the dumb things we did when we started, so you don’t have to repeat our mistakes! 😉

Seriously, your honesty is a breath of fresh air. Thank you for that!

I’m sure we’re all happy that you chose to be responsible and return the cache to the site. We were all new at one time, and everyone makes mistakes. Come on down to the picnic and meet everybody. I’m sure you will have a good time.

And there are a large number of us who have very short memories except for the good times.

…. and then there are some of us that have short memories, period. 😉
