I just became aware of this (commercial) connection. I’m not looking for a discussion about commercial tie ins, but thought I’d share in case anyone is interested in placing something like this. We are. I love dinosaurs, just have to pick which one now. I have the absolute perfect first stage spot for a quick multi or mystery and already obtained permission.

Looks like a special exemption on the commercial tie-ins. Looks like a fun idea to me.

12/03/2010 at 8:56 pm #1939393It would be cool if it gets its own icon, like the APE caches. Perhaps it may!
12/03/2010 at 9:12 pm #1939394Or possibly a souvenir icon.

LOL, now that is funny.
BTW, I have 6 souveneirs now……and they seem pretty arbitrary.

12/03/2010 at 9:21 pm #1939396Yeah, I thought about that possibility. 🙄 I think its own icon would be a better deal….geocachers “get” something for helping promote the show. And not a souvenir. We have two. We did have three, but lost the Delaware one. Not sure why we had it, anyway. Never been there.
12/04/2010 at 2:39 am #1939397That is really cool, our 20 month old loves that show, and I’ve got every episode memorized by now. What a great idea.
12/05/2010 at 9:28 pm #1939398My son loves that show, thats kind of a cool tie in. I would hope for a new icon because the souvinirs are kind of silly if you ask me. Right now it kind of seems to me you will get one for each state you visit and for mega’s and other events they can think up. I have 7 so far, what i dont get is why they dont give you a thumbnail of the picture so you dont have to click on it to see what they look like.
12/10/2010 at 2:16 pm #1939399Wisconsin now has a Dinosaur Train cache. I need to go back out with a bit better arrangement for the hide, but it’s working for now.

It was fun to develop. Anyone else? Are there any more huge public dinosaurs outdoors around the state for a virtual first stage? Isn’t there a Sinclair station in the Dells that still has the dinosaur? They don’t have to have that element, but it makes it fun for kids, who are the target audience for this thing.
12/10/2010 at 4:42 pm #1939400There are some big metalcrafted dinosaurs about a mile from my house, hmmm…….
12/10/2010 at 4:45 pm #1939401Seriously? How did I miss those? I love that stuff.
12/10/2010 at 4:46 pm #1939402It is on Odessa Ave, near WSQ Old Pioneer
12/10/2010 at 4:48 pm #1939403I wonder if Dick did that cache solo. I can’t imagine not spotting something so seriously cool.
(We may still go ahead and place one more challenge, our Weird Wisconsin one. I just love that kind of stuff).
12/10/2010 at 4:55 pm #1939404Yah Dick hit that one solo, apparently you were at a meeting that night 🙂
