CJ, I would get very specific. I know it is not the DNR, but when I placed caches in Milwaukee County Parks I sent a picture of the exact location with my permit applications. Five acres can possess many different land features that the DNR might want to keep cache free. Just my opinion.

I should clarify. I was asking the DNR contact if somewhere with the 5 acre area would be acceptable. If so, then I was going to investigate and give him an exact coordinate. With 1000’s of acres available I was trying to narrow it down a little bit to see if there were any areas they wanted us to avoid. I’m perfectly fine with sending exact coordinates once I know the general area is acceptable to them.

I have a new hide I am going to go hide tomorrow, that I had to wait for the DNR form to get back to me cause it was close enough on the border of SNA and DNR land I didnt want to chance it. It took about 2 weeks for me to get it back, which is about normal for the 10 or so forms I have sent in.

With an possible SNA in the mix, you are correct to get acknowledgment first.

Just an updateFYI on this one, this cache ended up actually being in the SNA and the reviewer caught it and showed me a better map to use. So the DNR signed off on it in a SNA, so i suspect maybe they dont really check the coords? Anyway I will happily go move it out of the SNA now that I have been directed to a good map that i can get gps coords out of that show me the SNA boundries. Ahh the joys of trying to hide a cache in a cool area surrounded by SNA’s

Can the “source” of the maps be shared to get coordinates? I’m assuming this is available for all SNA’s???

Well….for better or worse, I released ’em. IMHO, I did my due diligence. Code Junkie, I wish you better luck than I had! I would’ve been willing to sit down with the guy if I could ever actually get him in the office! It’d take about 5 minutes for me to show him on a map and describe the general area.

Zoom into the area you want, then click on the identify button on the top and it will give you the latlon of the spot you clicked, this will be very helpful to me. In my case, this is the info the identify button gives me.

I’ve used this map lots of times and never thought about the “Identify” option.
