I was just a little confused why the WGA would want to join the Women’s Professional Rodeo Association, but then I found a more reasonable link a little farther down the list. After looking at the Wisconsin Park & Recreation Association website, I would think that this is a match made in heaven.
Planning and hosting the WGA events will always be on the BOD agenda. I hope that we can expand on the regional events idea and sponser a few more this year. Printing of name badges should be continues also.
Purchasing and updating equipment is necessary for any organization. I certainly don’t see any “extravagant” purchases being made last year. I saw the mention of possibly purchasing a closed trailer to transport WGA equipment to and from events. This would be a pretty big purchase, but very worthwhile.
I didn’t paly in the LCG very much, but the impact of the game is undeniable. The WGA support of the game and the LCG event should continue. I hope that if this purchase is made that we go a little bit farthur and make sure the WGA logo is plastered across both sides.
While the COTM might be a bit flawed, it’s a no-cost diversion that brings recognition to any cache that gets nominated. I think it should stay the way it is.
I’m not clear on the golf pencils idea, so I’ll have to wait to comment.
01/19/2010 at 11:43 pm #1920610I do think that as a whole, the WGA has done quite a bit in the last year. It put on Several Great events, Helped out with some community involvement, and education projects.
I think More transparency as to what goes on “Behind the Scenes” has help many member see what is being worked on, and what has been done.
In general, I do think the WGA has done a great job this last year.
01/20/2010 at 12:10 am #1920611All in all the list of things looks good that happened last year, the updating of the logo took a bit and the supposed updating of the website never happened. but I won’t say much more about that. Its a sore subject with many here.

01/20/2010 at 4:14 am #1920614Carry on. It all looks good to me. Hopefully we can continue to expand the reach of the WGA and our positive impact on geocaching in Wisconsin.
01/20/2010 at 4:19 am #1920615That is a nice list of action items. Kudos to the current BOD.
I am glad that there is some transparency to the BOD. It gives the membership a better understanding on what discussions take place and it is nice to see that not everyone is in favor of everything that comes to a vote and not every motion comes to a vote. This reflects real life. If you figure that each board member corresponds to approximately 100 active members in the WGA (using the “active members” number as a rough reference), it gives a better ratio as to what the general membership’s view on a decision may be.
Many of the actions taken follow WGA tradition with the events and support of those events. I like the initiation of the regional event support/sponsorships and hope that this continues in order to pull more of those fellow cachers in from the less represented regions and make them feel part of the collective WGA community.
I think 2010 is going to be a good year with many more good actions coming from the BOD. With the support of the membership, these actions can become great ones.
Disclaimer : Always answering to a higher power.
01/27/2010 at 7:19 pm #1920616I basically support all of these initiatives taken by the current board. The one item I kind of scratched my head about was the annual meeting. I was surprised that there was so little discussion and virtually no issues brought up by the membership. I’m thinking the way to get more discussion is to open a forum topic 1 month prior to the meeting/campout to allow for motions/topics to be posted. Additionally, I think an extra meeting at the picnic would be a great idea, so that people don’t have to wait all winter to voice their concerns in person.
