Justin and I are going to Peninsula State Park next Saturday, (the 28th) and plan to hike out to Horseshoe Island. To find a cache, and (perhaps) hide a new cache. And probably some mainland caches as well.
Horseshoe Island is about half a mile offshore from the mainland, so it’s not a super long hike, but not super short, either.
I plan on having snowshoes along, in case snow is deep.
If interested in joining us, respond here.
02/24/2009 at 8:58 pm #1902697I would like to join in on the fun. It sounds like great hike.
Can’t wait for the details. See ya there.02/25/2009 at 1:21 pm #1902698I’m be interested in going.. I will have to check with the wife to see what we are doing this weekend.
02/26/2009 at 3:40 am #1902699The new snow should be done by Saturday, so this is still a go. I am planning on having snowshoes along. More details on meeting time/place tomorrow or Fri. eve.

02/26/2009 at 12:05 pm #1902700Just wondering if I would be able to bring a couple of dogs along. As well as the wife and mother in law?
02/27/2009 at 2:01 am #1902701Well, the more, the merrier, keeping two things in mind: We’ll be in Peninsula State Park, and any vehicles we bring will need a park sticker. I’m offering transportation with my van, but understand if we want to caravan in more than one vehicle.
TheHorseshoe Island trek will be the priority, and then any other caches in that people want to attempt can be attempted afterwards.
We’re getting more snow, so I’m planning on bringing snowshoes. I have no idea how deep the snow will be, but snowboots, at a minimum, are recommended.
02/27/2009 at 2:29 am #1902702I will be bringing my Snow Boots. My snowshoes are up north!!
Good place for them!
02/27/2009 at 11:22 pm #1902703I will post final instructions later tonight…
02/28/2009 at 12:09 am #1902704Found out we aren’t gonna be able to go. Don’t have enough extra gas money to get up there and back with where else we are doing this weekend. Would have loved to have gone.
02/28/2009 at 3:59 am #1902705Sorry you can’t make it, Ryan, maybe next time.
However, a small group is still going, so if any lurkers wish to join us, better post before 9:00 AM Sat. morning. We will arrive sometime between 10:30 and 11:00 at Peninsula State Park, perhaps meeting at main office, or at nature center.
Island hopping, a few other (hopefully) winter-friendly caches, and a burger somewhere…
02/28/2009 at 4:01 am #1902706Everyone be safe out there. And have fun!
02/28/2009 at 12:13 pm #1902707Yeah I wish I could be going with you guys. I’m gonna show my mother and father in law what geocaching is about sometime this morning.
03/01/2009 at 3:51 am #1902708Thanks Greg for organizing this Trip. Also, Forgot that I had your Propane Torch in the Backpack, so Will get that to you when I am out that way next.
Don’t tell anybody about the Sasquatch sighting. We don’t want everybody and there brother going out to the Island……
03/01/2009 at 1:58 pm #1902709No prob… too bad we didn’t look for the SECOND cache on the island. I suppose you should go back and look for it…
03/02/2009 at 1:24 am #1902710I’ll go back, and Sign all our names to the Log!!
