I met another cacher using a magelan explorist 500 and they were hand entering all of the cords .
the reason for that they said was because the geocaching site said magelan is not supported
maybe someone can post here what to do I thought maybe they needed to download easygps and then set it for there gps and all would be ok.but I am not sure if that is right because I use the pocket Q.08/30/2008 at 5:02 am #1895200The download to gps button on the geocaching website does only work with garmins, but you can download the GPX(premium member) or LOC file and use the geocaching manager software that come with the explorist 500 or use gsak or many other programs to load waypoints.
not to steal your thread but when I seen your post and was hoping it was about an issue I have had a few times with that download to gps button.
every now and then the coords you get are off from what is posted on the cache page. a friend of mine has also had this issue, the coords he loaded with that button were over a half mile off luckily he had the cache info with him and noticed the mistake. anyone else have this happen?

I use a Garmin and twice had the coordinates approx. 3miles off. I was really getting ticked as it was only a couple of months old. I was just about ready to give up on it when I thought I would go through it one more time. Lo and behold I found that I was in a different position format. The only thing I could think of was that while doing a previous cache, some buttons got pressed while it was in my pocket. I haven’t had a problem since.

Ya I already thought of that both of us are set to WGS 84. I just started checking the numbers when I upload and haven’t noticed this issue for months, but my friend had this happen just a few days ago. he is using a VistaHCX and has the newest unit software and newest communicator plugin installed so I’m not sure what could cause the issue.
