I received some photos on recent sightings of Eagles as close as 400 feet from some houses. And Deer doing vegetation damage at Eagle River, Wisconsin. All this News reaching me in New Jersey… π … π

Why do they have to cover my driveway?

All the neighbors turned out and looked like we were ready for a party.
In addition:
There is serious Damage be reported here at this LINK.. check it out.
http://atthecreation.com/DEER/DEER.DAMAGE.htmlThere goes my Garden again.. We have enough problems with migrating Geese. Do you? π … π
…05/08/2008 at 2:22 am #1888961It’s why Mrs. TE doesn’t bother planting real flowers in her garden anymore! She even had a bear up the tree a couple summers back and has the photos to prove it!
05/08/2008 at 12:43 pm #1888962There are eagle up here but those photos are not from here. One we do not have any mountains near by. Two the town of Eagle River is only 2 square miles and I pretty much know every house in town and that one is not around here. I watch eagles frequently but have never seen more than 6 at a time in this area. Saw more around Lacrosse though.
Yes the deer are in abundance and are seen daily in the area… including my front yard, have had several bear in our yard and even a badger.

Eagles are extremely territorial by nature. I think you will most likely never find large groups of them like we see pictured here.

You are probably right… but I did find these Bald Eagles from an Alaska source. Probaly traveled thru New Jersey first … π .. π

Alaska… that’s close to Wisconsin isn’t it? π … π
PS note from my son Chris .. just found out Bald Eagles migrate through Hackensack, NJ. annually as reported in the Watershed Field Notes.. along the Hackensack River. Now they tell me. I have to go to Wisconsin to find out what is happening in NJ. π … π05/09/2008 at 1:47 am #1888965Actually, during the early spring, when the ice is just starting to go out, it is not at all unusual to see upwards of 100 adult Bald Eagles on the river here like that. It’s quite the sight to see, but usually is short-lived.
I really ought to take photos one year. Any local will back me up on this, though!
05/09/2008 at 2:14 am #1888966I’ll be the local to back her, Birdin’, up. It is quite an amazing site to see on the Black River just as you come into the north side of La Crosse by ShopKo.
05/09/2008 at 6:50 am #1888967You don’t have to be by the river either. Last spring I counted over 30 eagles in one tree by my house. That’s when I lived up on the ridge above Indpendence, WI. No river near by, but I guess the draw was the Gold-n-Plump chickens – the ones that didn’t make it to the store. When they cleaned the barns the dead chickens where spread on the fields along with all the chicken manure. I guess the eagles found them rather tasty. π
05/09/2008 at 10:56 am #1888968Down by I think Red Wing, MN.,along the Mississippi River I think there is an Eagle Sanctuary along the stretch of highway. I had never see so many birds in such a short stretch.
05/09/2008 at 11:57 am #1888969Thanks guys and gals… I notified by friend Bill in Pittsburgh, my original source of stuff and thanked him too. I encouraged him to register here and share “stuff” from time to time. “Bill is a great guy. How about it Bill? … π … π

Yes you should. I have yet to see one in the wild. π₯
05/09/2008 at 4:23 pm #1888971Oh my gosh, come caching over here and I can GUARANTEE at LEAST one sighting. There are nests all up and down the river here.
05/10/2008 at 5:42 pm #1888972Gotta be looking up… not at the GPSr or on the ground for a cache… π
Can pretty much guarentee seeing one up here too.
