    Hi Everyone!!

I received an e-mail from “Earthcache” annnouncing that GC.com is now allowing for New Earthcache submittal. There are currently only 7 Earthcaches in Wisconsin, of which there are only 5 owners.

Submitting Earthcaches is not done directly thru GC.com, but via Waypointing (at least for now?????) who then submit to the Geological Society of America – See thisLINK for more info about Earthcaches!

Here you will find information about Earthcaches, guidelines for submitting and the submittal form. I clicked on Submittal form and it takes you to waypointing (owned by Groundspeak), and as I mentioned, THEY must then submit it to the GSA, then to GC. it can be a lengthy process, but these caches have taken me to some really neat places.

You can always contact the GSA from the link above, with more questions!

Will try to keep you updated if I get more info.

A little more fun info, from Earthcache, for those of you who are “Pin Freaks” like myself. The best part…they’re FREE!!! You just have to earn them… kinda like being in the Scouts I guess! I have already earned the Bronze level.. just waiting for the conformation and for them to send me my first pin!

I was just reading about this and wanted to say I think these pins are great, to bad I’ve only ever done one earth cache so far. It would be nice if there was a few more earth caches in our state, or some in the states close by. maybe I can shoot for a bronze pin.

On a side note I noticed that there are two new events GCYHTX & GCYHRF in the Madison area That celebrate the first annual international earth cache day during Earth Science Week….. both events are at the same time 1pm on 10/8/06.

Thanks for getting this info out there. We are such pin freaks too, and love Earth caches. I submitted our info today so we too should be getting the Bronze one soon.
Just wanted to say thanks again for staying on top of this stuff
