I will be spending the day in Eau Claire on Friday waiting for some waranty repair work to be done on our car, so I figure might as well get some caching in. Any suggestions or recommended caches to do while I am in town?

    Thanks
    Nate

We haven’t done this one yet but Eau Claire Hobo Camps GC1H7AZ sounds interesting. Hope we get a chance to do it soon.

Yeah, lots of suggestions. What kind of cache do you like best, and maybe if I know what kind of thing you like best, I can steer you in the right direction.

I would say my favorite types of caches are field solvable puzzles, WSQFOG and hidden in plain sight caches.

Field solve caches, listed as a puzzle:

GC1CZC9 Labyrinth 2.0 (Phoenix Park, with a container in plain sight)***

GCHE22 I Lost My Dog! (A tough, classic field puzzle, but it can be done in less than 1 hour. It has a 5/3 rating, but is probably really a 4/2)

GCMMVT One Brick At A Time (A tribute to White Pine’s husband, field puzzle takes maybe 90 minutes)

    GC28E0W Wilson Park Micro

    GC1NZYC FOG Forest Hill Cemetery

    GC1E6PZ FOG St Micheal’s Cemetery

    GC1NMEB FOG Lakeview Cemetery

Field solve caches, listed as a multi:

GCT6QV WSQ: Time Fades Away (Very old crypts)***

GCH77G The S ence of Eau Claire (Cool rail bridge)

GC1XGVJ Old Abe (Interesting historical location)***

GC53C5 Three Legged Dog. (Classic 4 part multi, takes you to great places and earns it’s 4/3)

GCXXMX Grey L Quest (Took me about 6 hours, though if you are good at this game you can probably get it done in 2)

Unusual hides, hidden in plain sight:

GCNMTC Bridge To The Past (Great locaton on the Chippewa River, and great hide)

GC1D6XJ Sally’s Geocoin Bank (Easiest cache in town, filled with geocoins)***

GC1VD3Y Owen Park (A twist on a common theme)***

GC260HW Wood eye (Eau Claire River)

GC24AAX No pressure (unique and easy)

GC21QT3 How Long Goody (An easy one)

    GC1MZKX Graduation (Another easy one)

    GC17M73 Boomerang Power (Nice hide)

Note: caches marked by a *** are caches owned by me, so I may be a tad biased. Also note that if you had requested caches with great views, or places to go for big numbers, the suggestions would be different. These are caches that either are interesting field solves or have interesting containers.

GC1CZC9 Labyrinth 2.0 is both – an easy field solve and an interesting container. GCXXMX Grey L Quest is also both, but a quite difficult multi to finish, but very rewarding once you work thru all the stages. No doubt the most challenging cache in Eau Claire, and fun if ya get it, frustrating if you get stuck along the way.

Without a car it won’t be easy but check out the coon forks park/rec area next time you have wheels. Really enjoyed hiking that area.

Awesome list Zuma thanks! I will have a car, I told them I want a loaner because I refuse to sit in a stupid lobby for hours waiting.
