Got an email from “Earth Angel” of the “ecorangers”, she’s being shy but is allowing me to break the news …

“I got a call from Magellan and they asked if I were interested in having a reporter from the Milw. Journal Sentinel shadow me doing a geocache! To make a long story short, they will either put it in this Sat.’s paper or Sunday’s. We did the QQ III multi cache in South Milwaukee. It went well, I had the kids with me (Professor was at work).”

… In “honor” of the event she created and released a new Travel Bug at the site, called “Milwaukee J S” (http://www.geocaching.com/track/details.aspx?id=92878). Watch the 7/10 or 7/11 paper for the article.

I have been contacted by the same reporter.
And, it was Ecorangers that I was emailing last night at 1 AM .. we were sharing notes. We are hoping it is a positive article.

Great article in Sunday’s Milwuakee Journal metro section: http://www.jsonline.com/news/metro/jul04/242848.asp

And I thought I was nuts on this sport!

Great article … way to go Mrs. Ecorangers! Bike helmets, we need to add bike helmets to our climbing ropes and bug spray!

I read the article in today’s JournalSentinel Metro section. Nice to get some good exposure for this sport. Way to go ecorangers and Auntienae.

Nice job on the article! It is a very positive representation of geocaching, especially the part about park manager involvement and approval.
The only downside was the headline calling it a “treasure hunt” but that was the newspaper’s choice of words, not the fault of the geocachers who helped out with the article.

I have to say that has got to be one of the best articles ever on Geocaching. Didn’t see any misrepresentations like burial, etc.
The headline is something I guess we’ll have to live with. It’s the best thing to call it for the NON geocaching folk, especially as an attention getter. I myself use the term when describing it but make sure to clarify that there is no gold bullion.

Great article. I had someone call me at the Greenfield Rec. Dept. this afternoon after reading the article in the paper. She got a brand new GPS unit as a gift and wants to sell it as she has no use for it. Look at my post in the For Sale message board for more info.

Very nice job with the article.
Others had already contacted me when they saw it to comment on how well done it was.

Nice Job, ecorangers! I am glad the second waypoint didn’t give you too many fits!! And I am also glad the reporter got to try his hand at the bonus cache. I wonder how the article would’ve come out if he had to post a DNF!

        Thanks everyone!

The reporter sat through my entire 2.5 hour presentation last week so it was a LONG interview.

And, yes, I am a Parks & Recreation professional who geocaches for my recreation.
