😥
That’s a big bummer – I was having the girls set aside their items tonight when I read your note. I even grabbed some hand and feet warmers.
Oh well…

Ya know, it’s simply amazing all the new caches in my neck of the woods that are available. Ohhhh, did someone say ” Winter Friendly??” Yeahhhh – if just placed…!!!” Oh, the happy dance!
Accordiongal and I went caching in Redwing today, and met up with other frustrated (DNF’S) cachers at the lack of winter friendly caches.
Hat’s off to Trekkin’and Birdin’ and lagrac for heading out with shovel in hand for the caching they have done. We poked and prodded, and dug and said we will come back in the spring. that was the family friendly version!
Doc.
There are a bunch of winter friendly caches up this way. A couple are even easier in the winter. There just could be some new ones in the near future…..SHssshhhhhh! Don’t tell Zuma!02/17/2008 at 2:46 pm #1884813@doc. wrote:

I lived in Red Wing for 6 years (before caching was invented), and have wanted to get back there to cache for a long time. I’m thinking that I’m going to have to get out there this spring or maybe sometime this summer. I’ve looked at the cache listings, and know that there are a lot of beautiful spots to hide caches in the area.

02/17/2008 at 3:14 pm #1884815Hmm.. . a day of laughing and caching in Hayward! I’m game! I’ll grab friends that laugh well and can pitch a snowball. Some sledding would be fun, too!
Maybe beer and a bonfire, too?????
I manage to have fun anywhere I go!
I think we’re hitting Menomonie and Turtle Lake today.
How I love caching with handsome men!

Thanks. It’s still a bit premature as the weather could also kill my trip to MN…but it should work out that I get the final cache I need there this week. I’m sorry the weather didn’t play nice for you all.
02/17/2008 at 7:32 pm #1884817Gary like they say, in Wisconsin if you don’t like the weather wait five minutes and it will change. Pretty much the truth!!!
How many EC’s do you have out there now?
I know you were having some problems with the Brown county one… They are a bunch of idjits!

I have 7 and the 8th is still a thorn in my side………….
02/24/2008 at 6:38 pm #1884819If it makes any of you that had planned to go to Effigy last weekend feel better, they closed the park and sent the rangers home on Sunday. You could have still hiked the trails, but I’m sure they are lovelier in nice weather!
Congrats on the Platinum, Gary! I see we were crossing paths in a couple spots yesterday. We just got our Gold, and only have to do some earthcaches in Illinois to go Platinum. I keep trying to talk Trekkin’ into heading out west for that last state, but he’s not buying it!
Has anyone here ever looked at the caching possibilities on Mackinac Island? There are like 57 caches, 7 or 8 of which are earthcaches. I think we have to do an early summer trip that way! Or maybe burn a couple personal days in the spring to get there before the crowds.
02/25/2008 at 2:37 am #1884820My wife & I have done a number of caches on Mackinac Island a few years ago when we eloped up there. I see that there’s a bunch of new ones now – we went in early June and the crowds were minimal – be sure to plan and take bicycles along (or rent them) to get around the island. Shelly is really missing the fudge – maybe we’ll get back up that way in a year or so.

Thanks for the congrats…and the same to you for going Gold….I really liked GC12FE3 in IL…
I also noticed we were crossing paths with each other this past weekend so too were Team Honeybunnies.
As for Mackinac Island I did one or two there this past year…nice caches but there is only so much time to Geocache there as there is so much else to do….like bike around the island….Holy cow I just looked at the island…wow did it ever explode with new caches and like 8 Earthcaches…I may need to make a return visit….

Hey all,
I am wanting to visit Trekkin and Birdin’s great new Earthcache next Sunday Feb 17. Looks like the perfect cache for a long walk with friends, old and new.
The GC # is GC19697
Who would like to join me? I am thinking of meeting at the Visitor’s Center at 10:00am. Those who live in Eau Claire or La Crosse areas can ride down there with me.
As time allows, we can hit a few other caches in the area, including lagrac’s Earthcache, just a few miles from this one.

Is This still an option now that the snow is gone?
05/02/2008 at 1:33 pm #1884823Depending on the date, I might be interested in tagging along on this one.
