I know there a couple of good ‘ol eMap GPSr experts out there. We’re planning an out of state trip with a fair amount of geocaching, so I’d like to load as many map segments as I can into my eMap’s memory (16meg memory card installed). I notice on the “Maps” tab of my Mapsource software, there is check box labeled “Include Route Calculation Data”. The maps take a fair amount less memory if I uncheck that.
Am I correct in my logic that there’s absolutely no advantage in checking that box (thus excluding route calc data), since an eMap does not auto calc routes? I guess this would seem obvious, but I just want to make sure there’s not a secondary advantage to loading this data that I’m not aware of.
i don’t know if it’s the same thing, but when i didn’t check that little box for my 60cs, none of the small roads loaded for a trip to florida. it was very hard just using the base map.
I don’t think it’s the same … the whole reason for the download is to get those little roads … I THINK (but am not sure), that all the extra data is for is to allow me to automatically have my GPSr pick a route (staying on roads vs. straight line), when I select a waypoint on my GPSr. My GPSr doesn’t support this function .. I can pre-design routes on my map software and load them, but can’t create a route ad-hoc on the GPSr.
So I’m just trying to see if anyone knows for sure it it will mater to me if I uncheck that box … I don’t thinks it does in my case, but can’t tell from my experiences.
