As you may or may not know GPS is an American owned sat system, and other countries have there own assortment of protcols.

GLONASS (Russian), Galileo (European) and Compass (Chinese) satellite constallations.

Survey grade equipment that does accuracies to a 10 mm +- 1 veritical and 20 mm +- horizontal, or better exist and can be used in the US and use non US owned sats.

Lecia Geosystems for example uses the GPS andor GLONASS russian system and talking to professional surveyors is highly superior to using GPS as the russian system does not degrade signal based on who is using the system or during different times of the day like they do with GPS.

So my question is, has anyone seen consumer grade units that will use a non GPS system to position them? I think it would be cool to have a unit that would use GLONASS or Galileo.
