The Greenfield Parks & Recreation Department is sponsoring a geocaching event to have everyone come explore our city parks. The event will be held on Saturday, July 24th at Konkel Park, located on 51st St. & Layton Ave. in Greenfield. All participants are required to fill out and sign our department’s registration form.

Cachers will meet at the park between 7:30-8:00 to pick up info on finding caches in each of our city parks, then meet back at the park for lunch. Lunch can be purchased at the concession stand with proceeds going toward our parks and rec programs.

Come help support our parks. More info can be found on the cache event page: http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?guid=7d38a59f-8eae-4678-b597-688d523242f3

Also, our department is offering a workshop and a geocaching class this summer for those beginner cachers who want to learn more about this wonderful hobby. More info can be found here: http://www.ci.greenfield.wi.us/parksrec/programs/OutdoorS04.pdf

I think this is truly a great thing that you have both done for the rec dept, and for WI geocaching!

Will there be some new caches hidden for the event?

Definitely, we have some temporary cache plans. Details will be handed out when you check in that morning.

I have to work, but if I get the register will the caches be up past one day? I would like to find them but work first.

We might be able to keep some of the caches in the parks after the event. Our biggest obstacle will be several planned park maintenance projects this summer. Creekwood will have playground equipment and a parking area installed. Towering Woods has a trail planned.

We can keep everyone posted, it all depends on the construction schedule.
